Your computer have a power when you switch the on but the motherboard and the Processor are not working. That's why the keyboard and mouse and other phereperals are not working. If you can able to open the casing of your computer can you remove the memory and clean it by eraser and insert again to the memory slot. Also if you have another PCI external card like Video card can press it to insert them properly. I hope i can help you

SOURCE: amber light on power button

Check to see if there are any loose connections to the memory cards on the memory board. Make sure the data cable to the drives are connected properly. Is the fan in the power supply on?

SOURCE: No video signal to Monitor.

Lack of video signal is usually 1 of 3 things, Power supply (PSU), Video card or Motherboard (mobo).
Situation #1: If you get a blank screen and no sounds or movement it either indicates that the power supply unit (PSU) has failed or something on the motherboard has failed, preventing normal startup.
Situation #1A: You might get some power lights coming on and some fans spinning but the video output does not happen, usually indicates that motherboard is going out or has gone out. Ocasionally it will be due to a weak (damaged) PSU.
Situation #2: If you get sounds and lights but nothing on the screen then it indicates a failed or loose video card.
Always try a different power outlet that you know is working. (Eliminate the easy stuff first!)
If it is out of warranty, try opening up the case, with the power off, of course. If you have Sit #2 and have a video card that you can reseat (take out and then put back in) try that. If it is onboard video then you may have to buy a video card for it.
Also take this time to inspect the capacitors on the motherboard (they look like tiny soda cans) and check for tops that are bulging, swelling or leaking anything. Capacitors should be perfectly flat on top. If you find these then your motherboard is bad (well technically the capacitors on your motherboard are bad). The bad caps will need replacing to fix (not a job for an amateur). If it passes the visual inspection then it may just be your power supply is bad. Notice that a bad PSU does not mean you are getting no power, just not enough to start and run the computer.
A few years ago a company stole the recipe for making capacitors and started making their own capacitors at really cheap prices. The stolen "recipe" was not complete and not correct so these caps started failing after about 2-3 years of use. Emachines, DELL and Gateway were the computer companies most affected by the bad capacitor issues, although any of the big companies could have the same problem. Power supply maker were also affected by these bad caps.
Do you hear anything during startup, beeps, fans or drives spinning, lights on the front or back of computer flashing or lit up? Do you hear the Windows starting sound?
Let us know more then we can troubleshoot better.

SOURCE: My HP Pavilion a6300f powers up but no signal to the monitor

It could be the motherboard, try resetting the the bios first by either taking the lithium cmos battery out and then replacing after 30 secs or finding the the cmos jumber and unshort it for 30 secs, and reboot the mechine.

If the same and no monitor responce then the onboard graphic electronics may have failed, the motherboard does have a AGP expansion slot which you may want to test with a graphics card to see if that will work.

If you find that you do have to replace the motherboard, try to find one that uses the same processor and memory that you already have, that way you will keep expence down to a minimal.

Replacing the motherboard will mean you will have to contact microsoft to give you the installation codes for the operating system to work with the new motherboard, when you boot for the first time with the new motherboard fitted you will have to phone the number on the screen to reregister the system just follow the instructions, it is quite self explanetry.

Once all booted up and drivers installed the computer should run as normal, as for the hp recovery disks it should still work as all the information on the disk is on the harddrive any way, the only thing you would need to do is keep the motherboard installation disk with all the drivers on.
hope this helps.

SOURCE: I got a dell optiplex

I recently worked with a couple of used Dell desktops that someone got from work. Sound familiar? I couldn't get them to come on because the plastic bracket that holds down the CPU heatsink was broken. The heatsink was also covered with a carpet of dust. The new owner could've bought a new heatsink/bracket online, but they declined to spend money. Open it up, make sure everything is in order to diagnose the problem.

Any sata hdd can't dected by the mother board but any sata dvd dected by the mother board. what kind of procedure i followed now?

Your motherboard CAN detect a SATA device.
Your motherboard DOES detect your SATA optical device.
Your motherboard does NOT detect your SATA disk-drive.

This suggests that your disk-drive is "dead".
Exercise the WARRANTY on it, to get it repaired/replaced.
Or, if the warranty has EXPIRED, purchase a new SATA disk-drive.

Loud beeping sound on start up , now will not start up , power ok

First remove the Ram and boot the system without it. If you hear continuous two beeps, then the problem is with the Ram, you need to replace it. If nothing happens, then your cpu or your motherboard is gone. Good luck. Thanks for using FixYa.

I have a Toshiba Satellite 5205-S503 Notebook computer. My computer was sluggish/ unresponsive and I shut it off by holding down the power switch and it turned off. The next day I tried turning it on...

You have gone through a long way.To check if the hard disk is the culprit. Just Boot the System using any Bootable CD like Linux live distribution CDs or Hiren's Boot CD.If everything work fine than replace the Hard drive or try to repair it.(work in many cases).

I recommend the second one because,it has got many tools for Hard Disk Repair (in case hard drive is the culprit) and moreover if you need to change the Hard Drive.you can always backup the data using the Said Disk.

Here is the download link

http://www.hirensbootcd.net/

Just Click the "Download Button".

and start downloading.

Extract the ISO image file and burn it in a CD and Boot the system using that CD.

Hope will it help you in pin pointing the problem.
Good LUCK.

The DVD player plays, but the sound is staticky. Speaker works fine when on internet, and Itunes. We only have the problem when watching DVD's. The drive sounds funny, but plays the video just fine.

1. Usually the DVD player can play for years then you will get one that will play 6 months.
2. some times this is due to dust or dirt in the mechanism.
3. A can of compressed air sprayed through the DVD drive will sometime clear this issue.
4. the static sounds also can come from a dirty DVD disk.
5.Wash the DVD disk with a mild hand soap with warm water not hot then dry with a cotton cloth or bath towel.
6. check the sound cable to the mother board it may be loose also , this can cause static sound.
7. This may take a long time but if you have done a "de-fragmentation" of the hard drive this could be an issue also.

Emachine will not power up

By nothing else, from a technical standpoint this would mean literally nothing, the CPU fan, power supply fan, aux fan, disk drive not spinning up, etc. My experience with EMachines is their motherboards aint the best, have been known to take out hard drives and other peripherals to the mother board. If you are technically inclined the first thing to do is to bare out the system, Power Supply attached to the Mother Board w/ Cpu Monitor and Keyboard no Hard Drive and no Non esential boards installed, very carefully remove the memory and start it up all should be fine except it should give you a long beep from the PC Speaker indicating the Mother Board is aware there is no memory installed if it will not do this most basic of tests this is not good. If it does give you a health beep continue to install one item at a time, first the memory, the display should, if working, tell you there is a boot failure, of course, the hard drive is not connected, do so and keep on testing. Without knowing what type of mother board you have, most likely an AT with integrated peripherials the process to determine exactly what the problem is would take hands on trouble shooting. If you dont get the beep indicating the mother board cant determine if memory is installed and truley nothing else is on it is more likely the mother board. There are several good ones online that will fit your case if you want to go this route. Or is it time to upgrade ?

I wanted to know whether ASUS A7S266-VM/U2 will support seagate 7200.10

M/Boards support all makes of hard drive
Are you sure you connected it correctly
The wide ribbon cable that goes in the rear of hard drive should
1) Be connected to M/board in the No 1 connector with the stripe on cable to the No 1 pin
2) the stripe on cable should go next to the 4 pin power plug on hard drive
Also ensure your BIOS is set to Auto detect of driives
