I have a Insignia IS-DVD040924I vcr/dvd combo player. I can not get the tray door to open. When I push the button to open the door to insert disc the tray will not open. It says trying to read disc and says no disc is in the tray. I mannualy open the door and see a tiny black belt broken inside. Can you give me some advice of what to do and where to find a replacement belt. Also, Is this easy to fix yourself?

I've had the same problem on one drive first ,then the other. For some reason if you keep a disc in the tray it will open and close fairly normally.Sometimes I have to give it a helping hand to close. This isn't a fix ,but it might help you to get your projects done.

The belt that opens and closes the drawer is too old and likely stretched out or otherwise deformed..
it's a $3.00 part however i'm having difficulty finding the part number to find an exact match, and could use help on that.
i'm going to temporarily use a belt i got from a dvd repair place. we measured it and found one that's ALMOST the same size (little skinnier but little shorter. difficult to gauge proper belt without a parts list.
i'll keep looking.
if anyone has access to parts list for GoVideo DVR4200 i'd appreciate the heads up.
thanks,
mark

This worked like a charm for me. I don't care that it isn't technical. IT WORKED right a way and the hint about keeping a DVD in the unit is right on too!

I have had the same problem with my GoVideo. May not be very technical, but I find that if I smack on it with something hard, it usually opens. It will usually open if there is a disc in the tray, so I always try to keep one it, and haven't had much problem. oh I just noticed that this post is 9 months old, so you've probably fixed it by now. Oh well...

Go Video DV 2150 - DVD door won't open at all. You can hear a mechanism working behind the closed door, but nothing happens and the door remains shut. Any advice??

There is a small belt under the loading tray which would have gone slack ( loose ) and the sound you hear is it slipping on the motor pulley. If you are confident you can remove the mechanism and turn it upside down and access this belt. Dismantle only if you can get the spare belt or your efforts will be in vain.

Disc tray will not open. I've turned on &off several times and it won`t open the tray. tries to but won`t open

This problem is caused by a loose drive belt in the eject mechanism, you need to open the ps2 and replace the drive belt...

Take off the top cover, then take off the cover from the top of the dvd drive mech... then carefully remove the disc tray and you should see the belt near the front. Replace that belt and it should work fine again

On a couple of rare occasions the drive motor has been found to be faulty, but usually replacing the belt will fix it
