If you just did a memory upgrade then the new chip is either not seated properly or the wrong type or even bad. Since it won't boot the problem is the ram in memory slot one. You need to rock it a bit to make sure it is seated before snapping it in. If it is the wrong speed or type you need to exchange it. It can also be bad but that usually means a counterfeit these days or you gave it a static shock and burned it out..
If you put your old ram back in you should be able to work again until you get the ram replaced.
im using emachine D640 i just want to ask how can i use the bluetooth? and is it ok to use the free download of Free Emachines D640 Notebook Broadcom Bluetooth Driver (3.0) 6.3.0.6000 for Win 7 1.0 Download
That blinking cursor is the way in which the BIOS is telling you that Windows or any other OS is missing . Since you are getting it without even an hdd connected it means that the southbridge is defective. Which means that the motherboard is dead, replace it.
Download the drive test for the hard drive. Put the drive in your other computer and run the test. If it test good on simple test do the long test. IF IT COMES OUT FINE, Run the Zero program and then try to install the O.S. Check your BIOS settings and make sure everything is set right. You are on the right track. You just did not know how to test the drive. If it is a Toshiba you will not find a hard drive test. You might be able to use the Maxtor or Seagate drive test. Use the windows version if you can. If you can't do any of the test, right click on the drive and check for errors.
