There is a valve that open and closes as the need for more air flow from fridge to freezer it sounds like it is not working check that out and see if it is working

open the freezer door and empty the shelves look at the bottom of the panel in the freezer where the air holes are if it frozen or iced up. thats your problem your air flow is blocked with ice. other possibility would be a fan failure.
