No water when water filter is replaced for RFG298HDRS/XAA

I have a 2 year old RFG298HDRS/XAA french door refrigerator which has been running fine for most part without any issues. I replace the water filter every 6 months and always use Samsung brand filter as recommended. It's time to change filter again and I purchased a new filter. But when I put in the new filter, water from the dispenser stops dispensing. If I put back the old filter or take the filter out altogether - water comes out as usual. My first thought was that it could be a bad filter. So, went and got a 2nd filter, a 3rd filter and still the same thing. Even tried a different brand filter, but still no luck. All these filters could not be bad. Called Samsung support and they think it's a filter issue and won't help any further. However, I think it can't be a filter issue since I already tried so many new filters. Any help troubleshooting this would be appreciated. I am using the old filter for now until this is resolved.

I had exactly the same problem! Tried 2 new filters, no water - put old filter back in, have water. Try running without filter, if you dispense water - your hardware is fine. I ended up turning off my water main (i can't get behind my frig) and bleed off water (turn sink on until no water). Take your old filter out - put in your new filter (will be easy cause no water pressure). Turn your main back on and check, should have water now - I did. Water pressure keeping new filter seal from seating. But anyway, this should work for this issue.

You are not screwing the new filter in right/ it is not seating. I experienced the same problem; you need to "break the seal" on the new filter.

SOURCE: No cold water

  1. Make sure filter is installed right.
  2. Disconnect water line see if water is flowing from line. May have a water valve in line not working.
  3. reconnect line but leave lose open inline valve just a little see if water flows out. No water PSI may be to low to reach up to fridge or valve stuck closed.
  4. Got water to connection tighten check dispenser for water.
  5. No Water If your system has a reservoir to store & chill water Your float may be stuck locate & check unstick if needed.
  6. Still no water May have faulty dispense value. Check value replace if needed.
Please rate hope this helped. If I can help further I'll standby.

If you hear a clicking sound sometimes, it is your ice maker. Replace ice maker, all you need is a short phillips screwdriver. Remove ice bucket, to the left you will see a philllips screw holding a long plastic panel going all the way to the back, remove the screw and the panel, it has clips that slilde in, unplug ice maker and push down on tab on top of ice maker and pull out

SOURCE: Samsung RS267TDRS Refrigerator -- no water coming

The most common reason water stops are 1. The water line has frozen, but its not the part in the freezer door. Behind the crisper bins in the fresh food section, you might not see it but it behind the back wall. Heat up that area with a hair dryer, or if its not full shut it off for 24 hours and it will do the trick. 2. The pump that sends the water to the dispencer is dead, it will be located behind the ref lower left hand side behind panel (follow the water line) part # DA74-40149D, you can order it at marcone.com for about 27.00
Good luck, if those dont work let me know

WITH WATER FILTER INSTALLED NO WATER WILL COME OUT WITH IT REMOVED IT WORKS

Is the filter clogged? Are you putting it in backwards? I would try a different filter and make sure connections are going the right way, there should be a flow direction for the filter.

I just replaced the water filter in my Maytag French door refrigerator (2 yrs old) and now the water/ice dispenser will not operate. All other functions on panel are fine (alarm, light, etc.). I tried to...

Hi, there is a micro-switch at the filter which shuts off the supply and operation while the filter is out of the unit. That switch is still open, so the dispenser thinks you are still replacing the filter. Try taking the filter out and putting it back in. Make sure any locking mechanism is fully engaged. In the meantime, I will see if I can find the service manual for your unit.

Texas, sounds like your water reservoir is frozen up. Remove your 2 cripser drawers, you will see the reservoir behind them. Take a hair dryer and go over the tank and tubing ends. See if the water starts flowing. I find a lot of frozen water reservoirs on these french door models. They have a insulation kit for them. Catriver.
