Dryer lg dle5955 hit by lightning years ago works but after cycle the lights go out the dryer still runs . you have to unplug it to make it stop. when you plug it in again it starts spinning, but you have to hit buttons to turn it on

unplug the dryer,remove the three screws at the bottom panal,remove panal and the element is on the right.the safety themastate is on left side on outside of body of heating element.
check and make sure it has a clear clean vent.no kinks in vent hose.if yours vents thru roof then you may want a chimney sweep to come and sweep your vent out.if it goes thru a wall check and make sure know blockage.
Sounds like your outside vent is plugging up. Go outside your house and check for lint build up and just pull it loose with your fingers or a shop vac.
If it's not obviously plugged from outside, feel the volume it should be significant. If it's very weak (while running of course) your ductwork may be plugged elsewhere, for example at an elbow, or the joint between a flex hose and the actual duct.
