Self checking

I have had a Panasonic DMR-E85 with this exact same problem you are describing. As I bought a Freeview Dual-tuner PVR I just bought a second-hand DMR-E55 as I liked the Panasonic interface. Two months down the line it is now exhibiting the exact same problems, except now as well as the continual self-check rebooting, it's also refusing to eject the disk. Booo. Time for me to buy a new DVD recorder again, and this time certainly not Panasonic... :(

Push favorite button and get "self check"

If your panasonic has intermittent power issues the tv will require service, power supply needs an adjusment that should be done by a service tech, if not then you will need a power board. Julio [email protected]

Recorder self-check... after inserting a disc.

Inserting a disk OTHER than Panasonic will cause a system crash. I'm betting Panasonic has code that causes this so you don't use cheaper generic DVDs. I now have to mail order the Panasonic DVDs (since nobody carries them) and have never had a crash since!

Panasonic DVD recorder

A self-check for these models can sometimes last for 3-7min's (sometimes longer) depending on how much recorded data is on your hard drive. Plus it checks all unrecorded space on your hard drive as well. Don't forget that it must check 200Gig. If it self checks for longer than 20-30mins turn off at the wall and let cool down. Try again in an hour or so and it should rectify itself. If it continues to self-check for longer than 20-30mins refer your machine to an authorized technition
