Probably a broken plastic tube from the solenoid valve to the water outlet tube. It will stay dry until you try to get water then it may take a few days to dry out.
your fridge will have a dual water inlet valve, one for water and one to supply water to the ice maker. it could be that the solenoid on the valve that supplies water to the ice maker is not working.
The water control valve for the ice maker side is your most likely reason. If filling ice maker with tap water and allowing to freeze. If it dumps then the water control should fill. if not the valve is not working. Sea Breeze
