Mine is flashing the power light and opc light sometimes. It takes anywhere between 1 minute and 10 minutes of powering on and off for it to finally work. I took the back off in hopes to see a popped cap or two but there is not evidence of failure. Has anyone got this fixed and if so how so I can give it a shot.
Thanks
Thom
It sounds like you have some capacitors that have gone bad or changed value. The place to look is in the power supply boards. Notice the top of the caps have an indented X or V which is really a vent. If the cap over heats it will bubble out a brown residue on top of the cap. The top of the cap is supposed to be flat, if it's not flat but has a dome, replace it. You have to take the caps out of circuit to properly check them with a capacitance meter. Also bad solder joints on the power supply boards will give you these symptoms. Hair line cracks in solder will separate when cold but will expand and connect when warm. That's why it may start working after it's on for awhile.
It is a common problem for this sharp model, the problems is weak back lights tubes inside the panel.
Usually the screen has pink colors first, then the stand by lights blinks 3 times, your TV will not power up.
Please change the back lights tubes, sharp part number:

Thanks for the reply. I did look for any blown capacitors and saw nothing wrong with them. They are all flat. I did a visual inspection on all other components to see if anything looked wrong but found nothing.
