Chamberlain Whisper Drive 3/4 Hps Garage Door Opener With Myq Technology And Batte Logo
A
Andrew Peter Posted on Apr 07, 2014

I recently bought a Chamberlain 3/4 hp belt drive MyQ garage door opener. I had an old garage door that I thought was bad, I'm not sure now. The old door opener would lift the door about a 1ft to a 1 1/2ft and then close. So I went and got a new door opener. I thought I was mechanically inclined but can't figure out when I try to open the garage door, within 6" or so the door seems to be getting pulled instead of lifted and the rail bows upward leaving one side of my belt with more tension on it and the other side with a lot of slack. I'm not sure what I'm doing incorrectly?

How is the door balanced currently? In manual setting (without the opener) can it be raised by hand, will it hold at it's halfway point, and will it hold at fully open?

These all have to be be in balance before adding the opener.

I just replaced my rollers (Ideal Security SK7123 1 7/8-in Deluxe Nylon Rollers Commercial Grade 11 Ball Bearings) and they made a world of difference to quietness and opening. Plus, more importantly, they gave me clues as to the RHS being misaligned.

There are several videos out there dealing with door side to side imbalances also.

SOURCE: Remote does not open garage door

It sounds like the wall button has the lock feature engauged.

Is there a small green LED flashing inside the wall button?
Push and hold the lock button for about two seconds and the LED should stop flashing. This will unlock the garage door opener and your remotes should start working. You may have to reprogram your remotes and homelink again since you triedprograming in the lock mode.

Good luck.

This web address came from the Chamberlain site. I also needed to relearn my remotes due to a newer car that has a built in garage door opener that needed to be set. I also needed to reset my keypad remote, those instructions I was able to get from the same site. Good Luck

SOURCE: garage door opener won't close, light on unit flashes

Easy problem - and easy (temp) solution.
The safety pet sensors are blocked or broken
Press the button in the garage and hold it until the door is completely closed.....this over rides the safety sensor at the base of the garage door.
You cannot over ride the sensor with the wireless remote.
Check to be sure that the sensors are pointing at one another.
If they are, check the wires.
If good, the sensors have gone bad. Order replacements.

Garage door openers can sometimes be triggered by (illegally) boosted CB or ham radios.
A passing vehicle pumping out high power might open the door (an acquaintance did this years ago annoying the neighborhood) and the 30 minute delay may serve to protect against unwanted opening of the door.

Press the colored learn button on the motor head until the led light by it goes out. This erases all old codes out. Make sure you have all the remotes handy too. -----Press and release the learn button and then press the button on the remote. For multiple remotes repeat from -----. For a keypad press and release the learn button and then within 30 seconds enter in the 4 digit code(different than the old one) and enter. This should do it. Thanks BB

If the wall button will operate the door up but none of the devices do then look at the wall button. Find the lock button and push it for 2 seconds and then try the remotes again. This is your vacation lock. You can get a manual at chamberlain.com. Now if the door does not open or close with the remotes you can reprogram them. Press the colored learn button on the motor head and then press the button on the remote. Repeat for each remote. If they fail to program you will need a new logic board. Thanks BB

Door opens about 18" and stops

Check the drive belt for tightness. Check for a bent or obstructed track. Overhead door openers have a safety clutch built in in case something or someone gets into the path.
