I have just fixed one of these. The problem was C104 inside the metal shielded section of the PSU. It's a 2.2uF 50V capacitor. Sony used an 85?C version rather than a 105?C (which I've used).

Most likely a power spike occurred and if you are lucky it blew a fuse inside of the TV. You will have to dismantle the back of the unit and look for the fuse on the circuit board. It will be most likely a ACG type fuse. You can get replacements at your nearest Radio Shack.
First check there is power to the unit and the trips and fuses are all OK
If so then unplug the unit for around 24 hours, then switch on and listen, you should hear the compressor start up ( a low buzzing sound), however if then you hear a click and it goes quiet the compressor is probably faulty. This happens often after a power outage which can produce a voltage surge.
HI. this will happen during most outages. there is a fuse located inside the power supply device that is used to power your unit. simply remove the cover off the power supply box, and replace the fuse inside. this will correct the issue.

after a power outage, normally as power comes back in, it's a little bit high than normal.
with a dead set that you got, it would probably be the control transformer. the primary could have been burn by a spike voltage.( sudden rise in voltage above normal).
or im sure it has a fuse. check first the fuse. if the fuse is ok, then it would be the transformer.
Check to see if the power cable is ok. If your unit has a fuse, you may need to replace that. Looks like the power outage might have fuzzed up the power circitry. If neither of the above works, then you may need to get the machine serviced.
Blank screen sounds like a fried thermosat. Abrupt outages can affect certain types of thermostats. Make a jumper wire and jump across R and G. See if you get any action from anywhere. If a fan or compressor kicks in you know you have a burned out thermosat...
Is the outlet ok? Can you plug somethng else into the outlet to see if the fuse or breaker controlling the outlet is ok? If there is power at the outlet, unplug the unit and remove the outside cover.
Look for a blown fuse on the motherboard. Replace it with the EXACT value of the original fuse. You can purchase a new fuse at Radio Shack or hardware store or auto parts store. Try powering up the unit again and see if it works now or whether the fuse blows again. If it blows again, the power supply may have been damaged. Was this a power outage or surge? Was anything else in your home affected?
