Ice and Water Dispenser Funnel

My rubber funnel broke off (without even touching it) in less than a year. Ge did replace it but it is without the rubber funnel. I assume the plastic is longer to accomodate this.

All I am looking for is how do I replace this?

All I need to know is how to remove the front dispenser panel to get to the insides of the freezer door to replace the funnel (part # WR17X11966)

Thank you

My problem was the black gasket that attached to the flap came off. I was able to fix it after reading some of the tips provided. The first step is to remove the molding oo the door above and below the handle. This will allow you to access the screws that hold the handle on. Removing the handle lets you have access to safely remove the molding around the door ice dispenser, and allow freeer access to all the screws. Once the handle and screws are removed, slide out the dispenser. Make repairs as necessary and reassemble. Thanks Jim

Ice dispenser funnel

No it should pop out .
before you go nuts use a mirror and a torch and have a really good look, they are normally popped in with either a quick release clip or a spot to use a flat screw driver
tip

I have the Kenmore version of this product and the same thing happened. My...

I had water leaking in to the freezer compartment of my LG french-door refrigerator (LFD25860). It was getting on to food in the main basket and embedding it in a block of ice, as well as puddling-up on the bottom of the freezer and eventually blocking the door from closing properly. Because the water seemed to be covering a wider area than you would expect from a blocked defroster drain I didn't believe that my problem was covered by the other FixYa recomendations -and it turned out I was right.
The problem turned out to be that the "funnel" that the water flows through to fill up the ice tray was blocked by a solid piece of ice. When the icemaker would call for more water it would flow down the clear tube (with the open slots on the top) hit the ice and spray/overflow in to the freezer compartment.
The solution was obviously to pop this ice out, but that did require me to remove the icemaker from the wall of the freezer compartment. To do this you
  • remove one screw from the bracket on the bottom of the icemaker
  • Slide the icemaker up and slip it off of the two screws with rubber grommets on them.
By the time I got to that stage I had already removed the basket from the main drawer and removed the pull out tray/basket from the drawer pulls (by simply lifting the plastic tab on the right side and lowering the plastic tab on teh left side). I am not sure if you can remove the icemaker without this step, but I believe so.
Also, if you want to entirely remove the icemaker from the freezer there is only one plug with wiring to undo. As I mentioned above, the water hose doesn't not connect to the icemaker, it ends above the "funnel" and the water drops in. So removal is much simpler than you might expect.

As for the cause of the ice block, I am not sure but I believe it was either because the ice maker made too much ise one time and some cubes could not pop out. When additional water entered the funnel it didn't flow in to the ice tray, backed up, and froze in the funnel. The other thought is that when the door was not closed properly while our grandparents were visiting, the ice melted and subsequently re-froze causing the problem.

How do i replace ps 652226 ice funnel ge ziss480drbs

carefully removed the trim from around the dispenser area by gently prying the trim off careful not to brake it. then freed the catches in the top of the electronic card. I leaned the card forward and disconnected the electrical connections, then removed the card. I removed the four screws holding the shield to the door and removed the shield. Then I removed the funnel from the shield and removed the spring from the old funnel and placed it on the new one. I removed the light and socket from the old shield and installed the in the new one, then installed the new funnel on the new shield, used the four screws to install the assembly on the door and replaced the trim piece. Here's a DIAGRAM to help.

Lg refrigerator water dispenser would not shut off

so two things I have learned. First if the tabs on the funnel break dont buy a new one just crazy glue back in place. Also if you take the gasket out put vaseline on the nubbins and they will slide back in place without having to take the panel apart. Fix time 7 minutes. Booyah!!!
