Side by side freezer door pops open

When I close the refrigerator side of my side by side Jenn-Air Model JCB2285HES, the freezer door pops open and stays slightly open. This causes the freezer side to ice up, is very annoying, compromises food in the freezer and wastes energy. Any ideas to adjust or fix the door. Thanks!

This is a problem inherent with lots of refrigerators. Side by side or top freezer. The rush of air pops the doors. You might want to adjust the pitch of the box by adjusting the front wheels to a higher level.

When I close my side x side frig the freezer door pops open

This happens because the refrigerators of today are air tight, the fresh food door pushes the air into the cabinet as it closes and the air has no place to go but up the air vent into the freezer and "pops" open the freezer door. First thing is make sure the freezer door is capable of closing properly and is not rubbing or catching anywhere. I sometimes add a washer or 2 to the center hinge under the freezer door so it doesn't rub anything. Put a little Vaseline ( or food grade silicone lubricant ) on the hinge side of the seal. I then raise the front of the refrigerator so that the front of the refrigerator is a little higher than the back of the refrigerator. Never level a fridge with a level. Once you have the door closing properly and front slightly higher than the back...let the fresh food door close from 90 degrees on it's own and the freezer door may "pop" open a little but will close again on it's own...and stay closed once all is set up properly. We see this more often now and have no trouble with the door staying open again after setting up the refrigerator properly.

Refrigerator side freezing

you could have a bad damper, this is located in the fridge section, all it is is a door that opens and closes to let cold air into fridge, sounds like yours is stuck open.remove the bottom kick panel and look for the tech sheet,it will tell you how to put it into diagnostics, the board will open and close,if it doesn't you know it's bad.go here and look at part number 13

When I close the fridge side the freezer side pops open a little and stays open. The appliance is 5 years old. This started very recently

a couple of problems can cause door problems first open door and check seal for damage [popped off trac or rip-tears]other is hinges worn- bent-loose --if seal is good at top and bottom of door are hinges check for loose if loose tighten -if bushing lookes like a little round washer type is broken or missing replace --needs realignment loosen top hinge and close door and adjust till door is straight and stays closed tighten door hinge done good luck

The freezer and refrigerator sides not cooling correctly. Both maintain some cooling at the bottom, but warm at the top, 50+ degrees. Refrigerator side at bottom is actually below freezing; freezer is...

Try the following : disconnect the power. Check to see that the coils in the back and or under the box are clean and unobstructed. totally empty and defrost. Let it sit empty and idle for 24 hours. Use a dollar bill to check the door seals on both refrigerator and freezer. If the door seals are clean and working well they should pull on the dollar as you slowly try to remove it from the seal all the way around the doors. Over time dirt can accumulate, Ice can form and interfere with proper airflow. Leaking seals can overwork and burn out the compressor. Hope that some of this will help.
