I cannot get the DVD Tray on our dvd player to close it will power on and off and such, but when i try and close the tray it acts like it is stuck on something and won't close. Any Suggestions? Thanks!
The tray is not catching (underneath the tray is ridges). unplug the dvd player from the wall for 5-10 min...plug back up and give the tray a lite push while tapping the open/close button

This happens to us all the time. Here is the note I keep on how to fix it quickly:
When tray gets messed up, the drive wheel (with pegs that interlock with pegs on the tray) needs to be such that the tray slides in and out freely. Push tray all the way in. Turn on. Hope that gives a hint.
check the close circuit switch inside the system. its maybe stuck, try to wiggle it a bit and it might work again.
the switch is at the end of the tray when it is closed, its a small black push botton swith.
be careful not to fry it when installing a new part
unplug the player for 5-10 min...once you plug it back and power on quickly tap the open/close button (the player by default will try to load the disc)
One of the biggest problem facing CD/DVD players are the drive mechanism. When the stay shut or chatter when you try and open them, means the through mechanism that ejects the tray will not push the holding tray open. If you want to open the tray by hand, there is a small hole whereby you can push a pin or paperclip into and push open the tray by hand. That is the only way to open and hand shut the tray into the player and get it operational. Other than that, replace the DVD device...no other choice.
there might be a possibility that as soon as the tray closed the dvd shifted inside the machine. the dvd is stuck yes which means that the tray wont open because the dvd is blocking the gear turning. if so you are going to have to take it to your Dealership to open up the player and remove the disk. you can try it yourself but it's not recommended. tray gears will have to be tested to see if the tray will open once the disk is out though
I had this happen when someone put a DVD in the tray when there was already one in there. I managed to pry the tray out to retreive the DVD's, but when I closed the tray it was stuck for good. I wouldn't bother doing this because you'd probably have to take the player apart for it to work again anyway.
I took it apart and found that the gears were thrown off from the jammed tray. If you have some mechanical ability, you should be able to see where it is off track. Most likely you would just have to snap the gears back in place, hopefully none of them broke. Also, when you have it apart, you can manually open and close the tray part to assure that it's corrected.
i ended up retrieving the dvd out of mine after it quit coming on by taking the top cover off and taking the cover off the dvd it just snaps in place by clipping on each side.
