Onkyo TX-DS676 Receiver

Every time I attempt to switch to the 5.1 channel on my Onkyo TX-DS676 Receiver, It doesn't let me and displays "Check Setting" on the LED screen. Not really sure what to do. I have a optical cable coming from a blu-ray player into optical 1 for audio and my speakers work fine otherwise, but I cannot switch to 5.1ch surround sound.

Anther thing Im sure you check3ed the obvious ie : the switch is on suround sound? If there is a front to rear fader is it in the middle? Good Luck

SOURCE: Onkyo TX-SR500 Dolby Digital problem

I just read over the problem you were having with your Onkyo TX-SR500 receiver. It sound like the unit needs to be setup for all five channels.Sence your symptom says the diplay shows Dolby D3/2.1. According to the owners manual with the remote control look for speaker setup whin the button is pressed the current speaker setup will be shown in the display. Press the preset/adjustment<> to change the current setting to five speakers. the listening mode will automatically change according to the number of channels you selected. Hope this helps. SOURCE: onkyo tx-ds676 dead no power up

power down the amp totally to reset processor, then try again. If still no go, may have blown internal fuses- replace and try again
.... or failed thermal fuse in mains transformer. this is a workshop repair as it involves mains voltage that can kill :)

SOURCE: connecting blu ray to surround sound receiver to tv

Hi, I have just completed this installation myself.
You are correct, HDMI to Amp Input from Bluray and then HDMI from Amp output to TV. Coloured cables are not required to operate the bluray now.
Good luck

SOURCE: Onkyo TX-SR606 getting no sound from HDMI sources

Not sure if this is your fix, but I had what I thought was the same problem. I played with my Onkyo quite a bit ensuring the correct assignments for HDMI, audio and all that stuff. Turns out I neglected to make sure the output devices were properly assigned. Many devices aren't default to output sound over HDMI. I changed the audio out settings on the cable box to HDMI and suddenly the Onkyo worked great. I know, I'm an idiot for not checking that in the first place, but maybe someone out there is having the same trouble as well.

I have been using dolby 5.1/dts in this machine without any problem till a couple of weeks back but suddenly it does not pick up either mode-all it keeps saying is it is set to dolby pro logic. Any ideas?

Which source(s) do this? Only multichannel digital audio in will light up those modes. Perhaps a setting in your source is the problem or your digital cabling is loose/defective.

I'd go through the digital input setup to make sure the receiver is set the format to Automatic for everything unless you have an overriding reason to set it manually. Page 29.

Onkyo TX-SR606 power on default input setting and hissing sound

I had the same problem for more than a year but just lived with it. The solution is to reset the receiver to factory defaults. Page 96 of the owners manual, "turn the unit on and while holding down the VCR/DVR button, press the ON/STANDBY button. CLEAT will appear on the display and the unit will turn off". Problem solved!

Onkyo ds676 one audio channel malfunctioning

Once a channel goes out on any av reciever, its done. Unfortunately thats just the way it is. I have been in the business of installing, troubleshooting, and replacing these units for years and your best bet is buy a new one. To have any electronic device repaired these days is not worth the cost and you can usually purchase a new and improved component for close to the same price.
