I need the ribbon cable that runs from the control switch(front of tape cover) to the camera. Mine has been damaged

Installing a new LCD is fairly easy in this model.
#1 Remove two bottom screws
#2 Remove four side screws
#3 Slide off silver side panel on the left Front side of the camera
#4 Carefully remove front cover (careful to pry off from the top)
#5 Flip over front cover and release the power panels ribbon cable from the system board
#6 Flip over plastic protector
#7 Remove Back Cover from LCD side
#8 The LCD is being held by 3 ribbon cables.
(This next step should be done very carefully - damage can occur if it is done incorrectly)
#9 Release the middle ribbon cable by carefully flipping up the black portion of the clamp.
Equal pressure should be applied to the full black portion when attempting to flip open.
Do not use excessive force.
#10 Release remaining cables and remove LCD.

To assemble just reverse the steps. We have color diagrams available just ask.

If you mean the back light of your phone is off, then it means the problem is from either the settings or the florescent of the phone is damaged, and the solution to a damaged florescent is for you to replace the screen if the phone. Also the flex of the phone can also cause this problem. Try to turn on the phone and flip the phone several times, if the light seem to come on or blinks for a moment, then it is the flex that need to be replaced, but if it does not come on in any way or at any time, then it means you will have to replace the screen of the phone.
First check from the settings of the phone if the screens light is not turned off. Once that is confirmed, then the next thing to do is to replace the screen of the phone. To replace the screen of the phone, please follow the steps below:

1. Remove the four rubber stoppers surrounding the screen to reveal four screws. Remove these screws.
2. You can now remove the front cover. To do this, use a credit card to lever the cover up. The cover clips on and the levering motion will unclip it. Start at the top, then unclip the cover at the bottom, then both sides.
3. You should now have the front cover removed,
4. Remove the rubber part which surrounds the camera. You should be able to lever it out with a fingernail or pen lid.
5. Now detach the camera from the phone. Simply pull the ribbon away from the phone to release it.
6. Now unplug the other ribbon. The ribbon attaches like a plug and socket. Simply lift it up to unplug it.
7. The lens is held to the phone with double sided tape. Pry it off. It will be stuck on well so some force is required.
8. You now need to peel the brown flexi cable part away from the edges of the screen. Again, it is stuck on with double sided tape.
9. The screen will now be free from the rest of the phone.
10. Now remove the brown flexi cable entirely and you are left with just the LCD screen. Note that the inner and outer screens are attached together so whether you are replacing the inner or outer screen you need the same one part. You should now stick the flexi cable onto the new screen.
11. Reverse the whole procedure for reassembly.

To replace only the flex, follow the above steps to step 7 and take apart the lower part of the phone to access the other end of ribbon, that is the flex that need to be replaced. Hope this information helped. Thank you for using fixya.

The reason you cannot hear the caller is because the speaker is faulty.

To fix it,

10. Now remove the brown flexi cable entirely and you are left with just the LCD screen. it is on the brown flexi you have your speaker.
11. so get a new flexi.You should now stick the flexi cable onto the screen.
    
12. Reverse the whole procedure for reassembly.

You can as well use a ear piece for the time being before the repair of your phone

I assume you have the 'Cover Open' problem. I have just had the same problem.
You have to remove the top cover, then remove the scanner - but take care not to damage the ribbon and power cables. The cover switch is in a hole an inch or so to the right and up from the centered cartridge. It is a micro switch operated by a white bit of plastic. The chances are this has become detached and needs to be located from the bowels of the printer. It can be snapped back into place or the mocr switch taped closed.
To take of the scanner you have to squeeze or twist out the pegs on the support arm, then open the hinges to release the scanner. HOWEVER before releasing unplug the ribbon and power cables !!

In any case neither operation requires any soldering as the ribbon cables just unclip from their sockets. *Before proceeding with this surgery make sure that you take note to where all the screws you remove go back. Also be sure to remove all screws completely.
Step 1 (Front Cover Removal): Remove battery then remove top silver screw just in front of the "nite pix" switch. Then lift the DVI cover to locate and remove the second silver screw. Then, with the camera lens and light facing you roll the front cover to the right(it can only really roll one way) while pulling the front cover at the same time. Its held in by a clip. When its free disconnect the light connector if it hasn't already come off during the front cover removal.
Step 2 (Splitting the Case): Remove five(5) silver screws from the bottom. If you count them there are a total of eight(8) so remove all EXCEPT the one screw at the tripod boss AND the two screws on the tape door. Next, proceed to remove the two black screws located in the battery tray in the back. Then flip the camera so you are looking at the hand strap, DVI cover, etc... Locate the two black screws by the "Slow Shutter" switch and remove. Next, flip up the eye piece and remove only the right screw. *Be sure to remove this screw completely because it is held in place by a threaded stud plate and it could fall out and bounce into that other dimension where all important little things go. The case should now be ready to split. Gently work the case in two and pay attention to the ribbon cables as you separate the two halves.
Step 3 (CCD and Board removal) The CCD and Control Board are removed as one unit. Remove all ribbon cables attached to the board. If the ribbon cable socket has a long brown bar across the top flip it up and remove the cable. If it has two brown buttons on the left and right of it then pull each button out and remove cable. *Take note to the orientation of the cable in the socket ie up or down. Unplug any remaining power wire sockets on the board. The board itself is held in by two(2) screws. Locate and remove these screws and lift the CCD and Control Board Unit out.

Any small distortion to the case will jam the dust shutter mechanism, as will dislodged dust and dirt. Remove the battery and carefuly remove the case screws. DO NOT LOSE. Lift off the front cover, take care with the top control knob and on/off switch as there are dust shields that may tear. This reveals the dust cover mechanism on the front of the camera. Dust off with an air-duster or soft spotlessly clean (new) paintbrush. Check a narrow ribbon cable is plugged-in at the front as this powers the cover motor. Gently guide the case around the top rotary control & on-off switch and line-up the circuit board beneath the rotary switch. Do not force anything together. Lightly re-assemble without screws and insert the battery - you cannot make this test without the cover-on as the case supports the switches needed to control the camera. Check that the cover operates correctly or is jamming on the case cover at the front where the shutter moves. If all OK replace the screws, else gently straighten the case with your fingers. This has happened several times to mine and cleaning it/lightly straightening the case cover always make it work again.

I actually have several of these cameras and have seen this happen many times with this model. The ribbon cable that goes from the body to the LCD tears in the same place in all of my experiences. If you look at the hing area, you can see the black coating on the ribbon cable between the body and the LCD. The top edge of this cable tears right where it enters the LCD component. If it works when only 1/2 way open, it's just a matter of time before it totally stops working...the damage has already begun. A replacement LCD runs >$100. Instead, I search e-bay for parts cameras. Just make sure that the description doesn't say that the LCD is bad.

Taking apart the camera isn't all that hard. Start with the e-bay parts camera just in case something goes wrong. Take off the lens cover (the lens actually stays attached to the camera for this entire fix) by removing a screw on the bottom, one just under the eye piece, one inside the LCD door area (near the top), and one inside the tape area...the one closest to the front of the lens. Then, the lens cover slides forward. Once you get it moving forward, extend the eye piece and the lens cover comes right out.

The 2nd step is to remove the LCD. The easiest fix is to remove the entire left side (LCD and SD flip cover). This is done by removing the 3 screws on the bottom (careful, 1 is smaller than the other 2), the screw in the battery area, a screw near the front of the lens, and 2 screws near the top (one above and 1 below the lens). Once the left side is free, tip it forward, exposing the 2 ribbon cables. The larger one is the LCD. Disconnect it by simply flipping the grey bar where the ribbon cable connects to the body up. The ribbon cable should come out with no effort. The other, smaller ribbon cable is the speaker and the "LCD is Open/Closed switch". Be careful with this one. Hold the white connector in place against the body (I apply pressure using a small, flat screwdriver). Pull the ribbon cable out of the holder at the body with your fingers (it should require only a moderate amount of force). If the white cable connector comes off with the cable, you're in trouble...the wires are extremely thin and difficult to get back in the right place...but it can be done.

Once you've removed the left side portion, do the same with the good LCD. Reconnect everything in the reverse order. I use a small needle nose pliers to put the small ribbon cable back into the connector. The larger one just slides in with little to no effort. Lock it in place by tipping the locking back back down. Once you've connected these 2 cables, you can carefully put a battery in and test that it works. If all goes well, remove the battery before continuing to put it back together again.

When you're done, put the parts camera back together again and keep it. You may need it for the lens assembly (I've had grease inside my lenses at times and the front lens can scratch easily, so a replacement is good to have around).

I've tried replacing just the ribbon cable, but getting it out of the LCD isn't worth the effort since finding a good cable usually means that you've also found a good LCD for the above proceedure.
