SOURCE: Hi, I am planning to buy Panasonic 42" LED TV

Cnet has the best reviews, in my opinion, and here's their review:
http://www.cnet.com.au/panasonic-viera-th-l42d25a-led-lcd_comments-339302598.htm
Unfortunately, there aren't many reviews out on this model, but maybe no news is good news.
Sorry I didn't have more info, but perhaps this will help.
Also, you might talk to salespeople at Best Buy, etc.- they tend to know more about them than anyone, and might be able to help you access it.

SOURCE: Panasonic viera Plasma TV model TH-P42X10A The tv

Hello,

The power supply board of the television is dead, u know basic electronics' and soldering? Most of the times, the power supply board just have dead leakages gases capacitors. These capacitors always bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.Replaced these gases leakages capacitors will get your TV power stable, and work again.Or tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

I hope this will help in solving the problem....

SOURCE: tv turns itself off and

Hello,

It is consistent with a power supply board issue. This is the board where the AC goes to. This problem may have occurred as a result of irregular power supply, or excess power supply or power surge.

The TV is receiving current but cannot circulate or transfer the current to other necessary part of the TV because of the defective power supply board. You might be lucky it's just a blow fuse. Also a defective transformer can cause your TV not to power on.

All these can be checked on the power supply board.

But more often bad capacitors causes problem on the power supply board. I do not think the power board needs replacement, rather those defective capacitors is causing this issue. Open unit up and take a look at the power supply board. You will probably see one or more electrolytic filter capacitors that are bulged up in the top-not perfectly flat like the others.

The value of these capacitors will be different, most likely they will be somewhere around-820 to 2200uF/25 V( or /10V sometimes).

You can replace them with same values but I would recommend the voltage rating to be higher(like 35V for an original 25V) for reliability purposes.

What happens is,these bulged top capacitors will cause a low and unfiltered DC voltage=main board will malfunction(the relay will keep clicking until the caps are holding enough charge to bring the voltage up over a threshold point).

You can buy these capacitors at any Fry's or Radioshack store or you can order them online at vendors like "mcmelectronics.com"(look for electrolytic capacitors). After replacing these capacitor(capacitors) most likely the normal operation will be restored. Or you can by a refurbished complete power board to save you some stress.......

Thanks for using fixya

SOURCE: Panasonic viera will not turn on

Try the following troubleshooting steps.Check power cord and power outlet, possible light switch problem.
Check if you TV savy check the P board if the P board is not good check the fuses on the P board.
If the P board is OK check the A board.
To check these Unplug the TV , Disconect A5 A6 and A7 on the A board and plug the TV in and see if you get a white screen if this is the case your P board should be OK.

12 blinks on th-p42x20m

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power led, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.
