If you've take photos and filled the card, you'll need to transfer them to a computer and then erase / format the card in the camera to free up the space on it. If that doesn't work - remove the card. With the contacts pointing up and away from you - looking at the label side - locate the tab on the left edge. Push it UP - away from the LOCK position. If it is loose, put tape on it and carefully reinsert into camera. Try to take pictures again.

Clear it by putting in a compatible memory card. The S1030 works with SD cards. Your 8GB SDHC card in not compatible. You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.
This error message means that the card is corrupted or formatted for another digital camera. Turn off the camera. Insert a new card or format the card.
Try to format the memmory card using a card reader and the PC this should solve your problem if not you have to replace the memmory card.
Your camera has a memory card slot that enables you to insert any "SD" compatible memory card up to 8BG. Adding a memory card will allow you to increase the capacity of your camera before you have to transfer photos and videos to your PC. Install the SD memory card as below:
Locate the Memory Card slot within the battery compartment.
Insert the Memory card into the slot in the correct direction. (see the sketch below)

Push the card in until you feel it "click" into position. The top of the card should be flushed with the surface of the camera. An icon will appear on the LCD screen after you turn on your camera.
Once the external memory card is inserted into the camera all the images taken with the camera will be stored on the card.
Note:
Limited internal memory is provided for test images. The image will be deleted when camera power is turned off. Please download the images before power off .SD memory card is required for normal use.
An external memory card is required for normal use. Your camera supports any compatible SD memory card (up to 8GB).
If there is a photo in the internal memory when you insert the card into your camera, a "Copy to card" message will appear on the LCD with Yes or No options. On selecting 'Yes' the photo will now be copied to your card.
Formatting will delete all data on the SD memory card including protected data.
