The spreadsheet is Column A = Date, B = description, C = Money Into Petty cash, D = Money out of petty cash, need a formulae so Column E can calculate a running balance.
In the first row of numbers, assume row 3 for example (leaving 2 rows for titles, put in cell E3: =C3+D3. In the next row (assuming row 4, put in cell E4: =C4+D4+E3. Use fill down to populate this formula all the way down.
Just noticed that kd24911 was writing an answer the same time as I was. My solution assumed that the money out of petty cash (column D) was entered as a negative number. If it is entered as a positive number as kd assumed (actually, more likely) the formulae will need a minus sign on column D cells as he indicates.

Hi,
for Column E, if current cell is E(x) and previous cell is E(x-1) then,
formula will be:
=E(x-1) + C(x) - D(x)
logic: C is added to last balance, D is substracted the same way
Hope this helps.
