Ge dryer older model belt won't get tight , idler arm not enough tension on belt, can't figure out how idler arm works . No tension

The reason for this will be that you have mis-routed the belt or that the spring on the idler arm is weak or has broken / dropped off. The idler pulley puts tension on the back edge of the belt. What made the loud noise will be the key to this. My bet is that you lost the spring or an idler arm mounting bolt.

Looking for how to refit drive belt on my LTH1742

The drive belt goes around the transmission pulley (located under the cooling fan) then attaches to the engine. You will then need to loop the around the idler set. You will find a "v" shaped pulley and a flat pulley. The flat fits on the outside of the belt and the belt fits down into the "v" pulley. You need to remove the tension of the idler set to fit the belt.

I've bought a drive belt for a Hotpoint 9342W Dryer but I can't work out how to fit it can you help

http://www.repairclinic.com/Dryer-Belt-Diagrams?red=Dryer-Repair-Help#DiagramL
here is a diagram on how the belt is fitted.
Move the idler arm forward to allow room for the belt and thread the new belt around the idler arm pulley and over the motor pulley. When you have it in place, slowly release the idler arm pulley to place the tension back on the belt.
After this, turn the drum around slowly by hand to make sure that the belt is in the right place, and is situated to the right side all of the way around (no twists in the belt). If the belt falls off during this, you'll need to try again. If not, you're good to go.
I hope this was helpful. I will be more than happy to help you if you need any further assistance. Good for you for fixing it by yourself.

How to fit a belt to a hotpoint v3d01 dryer

Instructions

Tools Needed:

Screwdriver

Hand vacuum

1. Unplug the electrical cord of the Hotpoint tumble dryer from the electrical outlet before attempting to replace the belt.

2. Pull the door open on the dryer and locate the screws on the underside of the top cover. Unfastening the screws with a screwdriver.

3. Flip the top cover back so that it rests on the rear hinges, and find the screws on the top of the front panel on the inside of the dryer cabinet.

4. Undo the screws on the top of the front panel with a screwdriver, and tilt the panel away from the dryer cabinet. Unplug the door switch connector from the metal prongs on the back of the front panel.

5. Lift the front panel up and remove it from the dryer cabinet. Set it out of the way. Locate the idler arm and motor on the bottom of the cabinet.

6. Move the idler arm forward to relieve the tension on the belt, and take the belt off the idler arm and motor pulley as well as from around the drum.

7. Place the new belt around the drum, looping it over the idler arm pulley and around the motor pulley. Move the idler arm back into place to add tension to the belt.

8. Verify that the belt is lined up correctly with no twists in it, and put the front panel back on the dryer cabinet. Plug the door switch connector into the metal prong on the back of the panel by hand.

9. Secure the front panel with the screws at the top, and flip the top cover down over the cabinet. Secure the top with the screws on the underside of the front lip.

My dryer starts to squek real loud when it is running

The source of this noise is usualy the dryer drum drive belt.
  • Unplug the electrical cord before replacing the dryer belt.

  • 2

Pull open the dryer door and locate the screws underneath the top lip that secure the top of the dryer.

  • 3

Unfasten the screws holding the top on with a screwdriver and lift the top, flipping it back and resting it on the hinges.

  • 4

Unfasten the holding the front panel on the cabinet, using a screwdriver. These screws are at the top on the inside of the panel.

  • 5

Disconnect the door switch wires on the back of the front panel by hand, pulling the connector straight out off the electrical prongs and setting the front panel aside.

  • 6

Locate the idler arm pulley next to the motor on the bottom of the cabinet near the back and push the idler arm forward to relieve the tension on the old belt.

  • 7

Remove the old belt from around the idler and motor pulleys as well as from around the dryer drum and take the belt out of the dryer cabinet.

  • 8

Place the new dryer belt around the drum in the center of the cabinet, fitting the belt inside the V-groove in the center of the drum, and lay the rest of the belt on the bottom of the cabinet near the idler pulley so you can access it easily.

  • 9

Move the idler arm forward to allow room for the belt and thread the end of the new belt around the idler arm pulley and over the motor pulley, letting the idler arm move back to apply tension to the new belt. Check the new belt over to verify that it is lined up correctly in the V-groove on the drum and around the pulleys and that there are no twists in the belt.

  • 10

Place the front panel back on the dryer cabinet, securing it with the screws on the top of the panel with a screwdriver, and plug the door switch wires back into the electrical prongs, pressing the switch wires on by hand on the back of the front panel.

  • 11

Lower the top of the dryer back down onto the cabinet and secure it with the screws underneath the lip of the front panel.

  • 12

Plug the electrical cord of the Hotpoint dryer into the electrical outlet.

    Drum won't turn

the dryer belt has broken or the motor is defective, start by checking the belt, here is how to replace the belt.

  • Look up your specific model number and buy a replacement belt from a Maytag dealer or a third-party supplier of replacement appliance parts.

  • Unplug the dryer and remove the exhaust vent tube from the back.
  • Pull out the lint screen. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws around the lint screen housing.
  • Slide the blade of a flat screwdriver underneath the top panel at one of the front corners of the machine. Pry the top panel up slowly, being careful to not nick or scratch the finish. You should hear a snap when you've lifted the panel high enough; that noise is just the latch releasing.
  • repeat Step 4 on the other front corner of the machine and then lift the hinged lid up.
  • Firmly grasp the top edge of the front panel of the dryer. Wiggle it to the front and back slightly as you lift upward, and the panel should come loose from the latches holding it in place.
  • Slide the front panel forward while your assistant supports the inner drum. Pull the front panel completely off of the machine.
  • Reach underneath the drum and pull out the broken belt.
  • Slip the replacement belt around the drum while your assistant continues to support the front of the drum. Turn the belt so the grooved side fits into the visible grooves around the circumference of the drum.
  • Get on the floor again and locate the motor underneath the drum. You will see two round pulleys; the larger one is the motor pulley and the smaller one is the idler pulley. Grab a section of the slackened belt, fold it in half and push the loop underneath the idler pulley. Wrap the loop around the motor pulley.
  • Push the idler pulley to the side, away from the motor. The grooves on the pulley should fit just right with the belt, and moving the pulley over should create tension in the belt all the way around the drum.
  • Slide the front panel back up against the machine, working with your assistant to fit the front of the drum into place. When the drum is secured to the front panel, slide the panel straight down into place. You may hear or feel it lock into place when you've pushed down far enough.
  • Lower the top panel and push it down until it snaps into place. Replace the screws surrounding the lint screen housing and put the lint screen back.
  • Reattach the exhaust vent tube and the electrical plug.

We are having a problem getting the belt back on as it appears slack can you offer any suggestions. Zanussi Condensordryer Dual Temperature. TC7102W.

I will suggest that you put the belt on the motor first, then route it around the idler arm pulley, then place over the drum.
Look on the frame of the dryer for an indication of wear where the idler arm bracket fit, also there should be a spring attached to the idler arm bracket. Once you have the idler arm bracket in place, hook the spring to it and see where it will fit on the frame. There should be also an indication of wear where the spring fit...look very closely because the wear may be very minimal.
I will include two websites for further help, they have chat assistants 24/7.
    Good Luck,
    I hope this helps.

    My Whirlpool dryer belt broke.

You should be able to reuse the idler pulley unless it is physically broken.
The idler pulley fits in the slots on the bottom of the cabinet (in front of the motor) with the wheel or glide facing the left side. Place the belt (grooves inward) around the drum. Pull the belt through the middle of the idler pulley from the left side and loop it around the motor pulley.

KENMORE SERIES 80 DRYER..The Tensioner use it or not and how?

To fit the new belt, you will need the idler pulley (tensioner)...

The idler pulley fits in the slots on the bottom of the cabinet (in front of the motor) with the wheel or glide facing the left side. Place the belt (grooves inward) around the drum. Pull the belt through the middle of the idler pulley from the left side. Once the belt is pulled through the idler pulley, pull it around the motor pulley (this should force the idler pulley to "open up" and add tension).

If you still need help, I will try to provide you with a diagram shortly.
    Good luck!

Belt fitting for a WF000 hotpoint washer?

It should go around 2 wheels; one is the pulley of the motor, where there is a good groove. The other goes around the tub wheel which is big one. First fit to the motor wheel then fit to one side of this big wheel & turn the wheel to engage it gently. The belt should have a "give" of only half an inch, or it will be too loose or too tight.
