replace the drum, ( if you have used correct toner for refill because some time it happens if two different type of toner mixed up hence assuming that you have select gud toner).
If it is right along the edge then the drum (well the cleaning blade of the drum) is faulty. In a unit like that I suspect it is all part of a toner cartridge. Try replacing that and I think you will be good.
It sounds like your drum unit needs to be replaced. Do the smudges look characteristically like a finger print? Technicians have a rule of thumb. Replace your drum, developer compound and general service the machine as often as you service your car. Assuming you do service your car as often as I do, it should be after every 25,000 copies. If the machine has never been serviced then its time you did.
If smudged stains appear at the top center of the printed page:
Make sure the paper is not too thick or curled.
Also, verify that the appropriate paper is being used and that the paper type set in the machine matches the media used.
Make sure the paper is not curled when you print on the back side of the paper with the Print Odd Pages and Print Even Pagessettings.
- If smudged stains appear at the right or left corner of the printed page:
Make sure the paper is not curled when you print on the back side of the paper with the Print Odd Pages and Print Even Pagessettings.
- If smudged stains appear on the reverse side or at the bottom of the page:
NOTE: Illustrations shown below are from the representative product and may differ from your Brother machine.
Make sure the printer platen is not dirty with ink.
How to clean the machine's printer platen
Unplug the machine from the AC power outlet.
Lift the scanner cover until it locks securely in the open position.
Clean the machine's printer platen(1) and the area around it, wiping off any scattered ink with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth.
If you're still getting smudges, there must still be a label or part of a label either on one of the image drums or the transfer belt, i've found in the past it somethings gets stuck inside the unit on the cleaning blade. What i suggest is you run a print and open the front door at the paper travels along the transfer belt, look at all the image drums and see if you can see the smudge on one of them, if so the problem is caused by that cartridge if not it's in the transfer belt somewhere. You may need to try stopping the printer a few times and if the problem is in one of the cartridges, you will mst likely have to replace it, as with the transfer belt if you think that's causing the problem it's easier to remove it and rotate the belt manually.
Please note the image drums and the transfer belt are all light sensative
Hi. There are several reasons for this. The most common one is not replacing the ink roller on time. If the old roller had felt falling off of it, then it will block up the drum. The second is re-inking the roller. If you do this, you end up with a sticky mess and a lot of smudging. Other than that, pieces of paper stuck in the paper path are common. You should inspect the drum again. This is the little group of rubber numbers that spin around and hit the paper while printing. You will usually find sticky muck on the numbers, and you may have to clean them several times. You need to turn the drum as you clean it. Try to use the gears at the side if they are visible. A dry Q-tip is best, as alcohol may damage the thin rubber. Try cleaning the drum again, and look for any improvement. If itgets better on some numbers, then you are probably on the right track. Also, if you could send me a picture of the bad print, that may help also.
What model - Epson under heading. Brother as you speak, you speak of ink but also of a drum, machines that use a drum dont use ink. they use toner, so I guess you have a Brother MFC ???? ie 8820. Did you buy gen Brother Drum and Toner?
Is the insides of printer clean or full of powder?
Is there any image?
Stop a print halfway in machine and see if mark only occurs after paper has traveled threw the fuser (the hot bit at rear)
