I think that you haven't downloaded a driver.You'd better access the Internet to download one.(I just solve it in China this way.)

If you cannot download a Windows 7 scanner driver from the Canon WEB site, then the Vista scanner driver may work with Windows 7.

Your scanner model is not supported on windows 7.

Same experience but no assistance forthcoming from Canon. Agreed avoid their Scanners for MAC
