Blurry, Ink Smeared pages

We do lots of marketing, which means that we end up printing thousands of colored brochures on a monthly/bi-monthly schedule. Lately, we've been unable to print certificates onto glossy paper. Does the CL7300 not work with glossy pages? After having difficulty with these print jobs, our regular brochures now seem to have left over ink smudged on them. How can we fix this problem? Thanks for the help.

If the media (glossy paper) is designed for an ink jet printer you should be fine.

Ink has to be able to be absorbed into the fibers of the page. If you are using paper for a laser color printer, that's your problem.

I changed black ink cartridge and now pages that are printed are really poor quality and really hard to see...faded in color and sometimes smeared in some spots. Help.

Try going into the menu and cleaning your print heads. If that doesn't work, take out the cartridge and using a cotton swab and alcohol, clean the print heads.

I believe my ink dried out in the holder bracket. I cleaned it with alcohol and replaced the -color and black ink cartridges with new, and can only get a littles ink smeared across the page on the first...

If ink dried out it's done. Recycle it and get new cartridge. If cartridge is more than 50 dollars don't buy it. Go to Walmart and you can by a brand new cannon printer with ink cartridge for $49.00

I have a Xerox Phaser 8400 with image problems. After power up it prints a Startup Page - That page is black text which faded and slightly distorted in some areas and in areas that are in Color only...

What you are describing is a bad print head. You can try running the eliminate light stripes several times, and jet substitution, but most likely the print head will have to be replaced to remedy your problem.
You can try googling. Phaser printer print heads or phaser printheads.
There seems to be a secondary market appearing for those print heads. I can tell you from Xerox, if you have no maintenance agreement, they cost $750 per print head.
Honestly, having worked on about every type of color printer known to man, the new solid ink phaser printers, produce a dry ink image of 2400 x 2400 dpi with ink particles that align end to end. The resolution of those printers are remarkable and can be purchased for less than the price of one of those new print heads.
Now for reliable, albeit somewhat not as sharp a color image, but still exceptional, you really can not beat an HP.
The ink stick technology really no longer has the color vividness advantage it initially had. The inks that align end to end, have ended that advantage and are sure a lot cheaper to operate per page.

Prints blurry every other line with black color

Hi,

Is it the ink cartridge contacts you already cleaned? If so, then you can also clean it using the tools menu from the printer panel:

-press setup menu, then go to tools
-select clean print cartridge and press ok
-it will print a test page. If the printout is good, you can try printing again.

I hope this helps.

The printer is producing distorted, sort-of smeared documents.

If you remove the right side cover, locate the drum shaft about midway back and midway up.
There is an encoder on the end of that shaft. Remove it and clean it with some alcohol. Don't be afraid to flush it a few times. Let it dry and reinstall it. It get's contaminated with the silicon oil from the maintenance kit and causes a very blurry print because the drum runs the wrong speed.
That may need replaced, but the vast majority of the time, cleaning the encoder resolves that problem.

You are using HP's cartridge with the smallest output . So if you are printing 80 pages of text, you will have a problem by the time you reach 95 or 100 pages. If you are printing in color, you only have 1ml/color. Meaning 3 colors. But in order to print a red, it will combine a magenta and yellow to product 1 color. So 3 colors doesn't mean 3 ml worth of colors. Effectively you may only be able to print 10-20 pages of color then your cartridge is empty. The black cartridge has about 4-5ml of ink. So if you print a lot I suggest you get another printer.

Our Dell AIO A940 stopped printing black ink (it went throught the motions but he paper came out blank). Finally got it to print by selecting:

PRINT, PROPERTIES, PAPER SETUP, SPECIALTY PAPER, PHOTO/GLOSSY

Maybe it will work for you! Good luck!
