Cleaned the drum by running the slider on Brother IntelliFax 2800

Before I cleaned the drum the copies were basically fine with a couple of spots on the page here and there. Now the copies are black and smudgy along more than one half of the page. A lot of loose powder came out of the drum when I removed the cartridge.

Hello,

The developer drum has a electrostatic coating material that holds the toner until the paper that is opposite charge pulls the toner off. If you wiped the drum unit to clean it, chances are that you damaged this electrostatic coating and killed the drum. You should never touch the drum surface or wipe it off because of this coating. At this point the only thing to do is buy a replacement drum.

Clean the corona wire, reclean the drum, check the toner cartridge. The cartridge may not be positioned properly, causing extra toner to be displaced.

Horizontal lines and tones specks around text

Only known causes are a dirty corona wire or a dirty/bad drum. If you know the drum is good, a thorough cleaning of the drum and cleaning the corona wire should clear up your printing.

There is a line coming through when we receive faxes.

Try removing drum unit, and cleaning corona wire with blue "slider" if that doesn't work, replace drum unit.

You need to replace the drum (DR-250). The drum needs to be replaced every so often. Sorry, it's kind of expensive. If this helps you, please give me a good rating. Thanks.

Incoming fax quality

Are you using genuine Brother supplies? Generic supplies are the main reason for print quality issues. Have you ever changed thr drum unit ? Expensive! You can buy a new machine and get a new drum and toner for a little bit more.
