check VR4 to make sure it isn't closed . Check D 11 to make sure it isn't clipped . Turn VR 4 clockwise till it stops then back it off a little .If D 11 is clipped replace it with another diode then try it again. If it doesn't work it could be your final or your driver so replace both..
check to see if its hook to the speaker jack. if it is just clip the resister. if its hooked to a dial then you are in hot water. follow the wires from those variables to see where they go . when you find the right one clip it.,no more talk back.
clipping the limiter should not have prevented tx on sideband are u sure u didn't do something more accidently. r 131 is the correct limiter for the 148. just out of curiosity what year 148 is it?
Hello,
There is only a couple radios that I will clip a limiter on. Clipping the limiter is a bad practice. Makes radios sound over modulated. What you want to do is adjust pots VR11 and VR12 for power and swing on AM and adjust RV3 and RV6 for Side Band.

Tony
If you have been using this radio on the bench using a 12 Volt power supply and it was functioning properly then not operating in the mobile you need to look at fuses or a bad D.C. Plug.
Most Cobra / Unidens are easy by clipping D9. On this one D9 and L19. Just turn up L19 to top. Clip D9 diode. spread coils 1/16" inch. Also use 100uf capacitor (-) toward final across JUMPER staple near Final Transistor in back. Use meter(adjust to best swing) spread back coils, remove L10,L20 slugs or adjust them to top. The only radio that clips different than D9 is Cobra 29Ltd (D11) or Uniden pro510xl(D14).
They should be rechargable. But to change them, take the belt clip off first by pulling forward on the tiny tab on the top of the belt clip and sliding the clip up. Then the battery compartment is accessible.
