SOURCE: Clothes washer just makes a noise like a gear spinning ?

I was having the same problem with mine so I took it apart. There is a plastic coupler-like device that connects the drive motor to shaft which allows your "spin" cycle to commence. This coupler has posts in side it but they are under the little belt. My posts were all broken so the bottom piece of the coupler was spinning but the top was not, so it just made a humming noise. SOURCE: noise and vibration when Kitchen Aid front load washer spins

I just found out that the feel of my pedestal came loose causing the back of the washer to be higher than the front. I don't know if yours is the same, but mine has sounded like a helicopter taking off. I screwed the back feet back in.

I've not yet uprighted the washer to find out if it's resolved--I need the heavy-lifting members of my household for that--but I do hope this will return the washer to a far more normal sound.

SOURCE: I need to replace the pump on Kitchenaid clothes dryer

Removing the cabinet. UNPLUG the washer. There are two screws holding the control panel to the cabinet. Most models the screw are in front but, some models have the screws in back. They are on each end. Now raise the control panel up and let it rest on the hinges. Unplug the lid switch harness and locate the clips on each side (bronze in color) and release them.
Now the cabinet will lift off the frame and you can set it aside.
I hope this helps. Please let me knwo if I can assist you further.

Clothes Washer Will Not Drain

My front loading clothes washer wasn't draining properly, it wouldn't complete the cycle, and the clothes would come out still sopping wet.

We found that the problem was the filter located next to the water pump. It prevents large items from entering the water pump and causing severe damage to the pump.

To access the filter on my Whirlpool machine I had to remove the top panel, the front control panel, remove the door gasket from the front panel, and then remove the front panel. On some models all that is needed is to remove a panel on the bottom-front of the machine. (I wish mine was like that!)

This video I did on it might help you understand what to look for.
I imagine that a top loading clothes washer has a similar pre-filter.

Repalcing an infinite switch on Kitchen Aid KERC607HBS4

If you are replacing the infinite switch, you need to remove the back panel of the console. This may include having to remove all, or part, of the entire back panel to gain full access. If you are replacing the thermostat on the heating element, or the element all together, you will need to lift the cook top up for access. This is acommpished by removing the screws along the front edge of the top panel. You will need to open the oven door to see the screws. Make sure you unplug the range prior to servicing any internal components. I hope this answers your question. If not, please let me know.
