Yesterday, my TV began turning off approx every 15-20 minutes. If I wait a few seconds, I can turn it on again, but it turns off again after 15 mins. TV is about 2 yrs old. I have checked all cables and settings, even unplugging it completely last night and then reconnecting it and trying again today. Same problem exists. When it is first turned on after being off for several hours, it turns off after 20 minutes. After that, it turns off every 15 minutes. The consistency of the timing seems strange. If it were overheating, I wouldn't expect the TV to be able to turn on again after just a few seconds, and I wouldn't expect the timing of the turn-offs to happen at such consistent intervals of time.

hello, if it's shutting down and giving you trouble or staying on when you press the button, your set needs service. unfortunatly there isnt much you can claim if your waranty expires. there are different types of shutdowns caused by voltage spikes or drops. these sets operate at high heat and high voltages the parts go bad they loose there resistance and dont hold the proper specified loads they go haywire or dont turn on at all. so this is how they go bad even with short term use. you may want have it service. if the issue is constantly interupting your tv viewing if your set is not coming on at all. it is common with these newer lcd & plasma tv's. your fix is sort of simple a matter of exchanging or repairing a board or two. some of these fall of the stand and break instanly, i have heard of kids trowing wii's trough the screen glass. your tv is still worth its value if your main panel is good this is what the tv is built around. so if you have a circut issue maybe a button or panel that is fualty get it estimated and serviced.
hope this helps
happy holidays

Hi,
Disconnect the power supply for few minutes, say 30 minutes and then turn ON the TV.This would reset the TV. If you still see the same problem, it confirms a hardware failure.
As you could hear a clicking noise, it is more suggestive of a power supply problem. This a common problem on most of the Vizio's TV. You need to open the TV. Locate the power supply board. You would be able to find blown / bulged / leaked IC's. Take them out and re-solder the new one. ( you could get the caps from radio shack or even from fry's ).
I am pretty sure that it would solve the problem. If the problem still persists, revert and we could troubleshoot further.
Let me know,if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Hi well what's happening is that the "Protection circuitry" in the SMPSU has/is detecting a potentially catastrophic fault, and to stop a fire AND EXPLOSION OR INDEED BOTH, IS ATTEMPTING TO SHUT THE SET DOWN FOR SAFETY REASONS, HOWEVER AFTER IT SHUTS DOWN, THE "FAULT" APPEARS TO "GO" AND THEN THE SMPSU STARTS UP AGAIN , ONLY TO DETECT THE FAULT AND SO ON... USUALLY ENDLESSLY OR UNTIL COMPLETE FAILURE OCCURS.
What to do, well in all reality DIY is NOT feasible unless one has LOTS of experience, test gear, tools, isolation transformer, and a service manual. So, contact the local or head office from VIZO, ask them for a referral to an authorised service center, hopefully a local one? in any event, make face to face contact here and ONLY ask first for a "Quote" as to prospective costings and go from there, this way at least you can make up your mind as to repair or replace?

I have the exact same problem and am seeking a solution too ... it won't boot past the Vizio logo on the screen and the remote and side buttons won't work :(
I would start with checking the power supply 12vdc output, make sure it is stable with no ripple. If the power supply checks out fine, I would then suspect the main board.
