sounds like the compressor may have died on you. the compressor isnt running you might as well trash it sorry for the bad news but it probably isnt worth trying to replace a compressor in a system like that it would drive you crazy and take forever if it could even be done.
I have a similar situation with 66 a/c units in my motel. The problem is the drain valve in the back of the unit (near the compressor) does not function properly. It is supposed to open when the water temp (laying in the bottom of the unit) gets to 50 degrees cusing the drain valve to open and let the water out. The problem is the water never reaches 50 degrees when the outside temperature is in the 80's. So the water sets in the units. The fan sprays the water over the fan motor, heating element and inside the chasis causing it to rust from the inside out. I have notified LG and they are investigating it...... Amana has the same problems with their units which use the same drain valve and they have removed the drain valve in several motels in the area.
I would suggest removing the drain valve or wedging something under the little round plate so the the unit drains. Also make sure your A/C is tilted properly so the water runs to the back of the unit and drains.
If it is rattling when in either fan or cool, you are having either a fan motor problem or the blade is hitting something. The water may be from a clogged drain port (by coil) which u are not seeing, if a new one is under 250, that is your best bet!
