What's causing my Canon Rebel XT EOS to write files into separate folders - and how do I fix it?

My Canon Rebel XT EOS is writing each photo to its own folder instead of grouping by 100s as it used to. I then have to manually erase each one, too - can't delete them all at once once I've transferred them to my laptop. Any suggestions?

I believe there are 2 modes of usb transfer that you can pick in the camera. They are set somewhere in the menu in the options. If you go through the menus thoroughly you'll find it. One option is for connecting the camera directly to a printer and the other is for computer transfer (there might also be an Auto setting but I don't remember for sure). Make sure that setting is set for computer transfer. If that doesn't fix your problem, re-install or update EOS Utility / ZoomBrowser.

I had the same problem; I could insert the card but it wouldn't read. I Got a CF error message. I was going to get it fixed then I realised that the bent pin was touching the adjacent pin. So I intentionally broke-off the damaged pin... an now it works perfectly! Many of the pins on CF cards don't appear to function.

Obviously, only do this if the pins are touching and you can't bent the pin back straight. You could make thing worse by rummaging aroung the CF slot, but as I was going to send it away anyway, at some considerable cost, I had nothing to lose.

SOURCE: Download pictures from my Rebel EOS to my computer

Take a look at Picasa, from Google. Also take a look at Irfanview. I haven't used Irfanview in over a year (since I moved from a PC to a Mac - it's the one piece of software I really miss on my Mac), but before I moved to the Mac it was my primary photo organizer and viewer. It's a very impressive program for free software from an individual programmer (Irfan).

SOURCE: Canon EOS/Rebel XT won't power up

Joe, this happened to me, just tonight... I got a new CF card and stuck it in, turned it on and one CF card flash. Completely dead from there. I found one of the CF card pins bent over, shorted out the socket and blew the mainboard fuse. I took the camera apart, found the fuse (labelled K) about under the set button area) I bridged the fuse with a bit of solder, straightened out the pin in the socket, put it all back together and it's working fine. The fuse is under the right side shield cover, it's labelled with a letter K. There is another fuse on the power inlet board (below the shutter button) and it's labelled 'P'...

My Camera Rebel XT wont download the pictures. I get the message that Microsoft Document Reader is not compatible with this device! I dont know whats wrong. Can you help me?

Use a card reader to download the pics to a folder you create on the desktop. From there, you can send the pictures to a photo editing program or just double-click the folder to view the pictures. typrice_181.jpg

Lost my CD software for my Canon EOS REbel XT. Not able to download dig pics...help!

You don't need to have the CD software to download your pictures, especially if you shoot in JPEG mode. Just put your memory card in a card reader and it will autimatically launch. Click on the DCIM folder and all your pictures will be in there. Press 'CTRL' + 'A' to select them all and then 'CTRL' + 'C' to copy them. Find a folder you want to put them in and press 'CTRL' + 'V' to paste them there.

Make a CD copy of your files and or print them as storing them on a hard drive is not 100% safe.

Lost Installation Software for Canon Rebel XT

I have created an ISO image of my Canon 350D software CD and uploaded it to filefactory.com
You can download it here http://www.filefactory.com/file/aga8gc6/n/EOSv10_zip
You should be able to get a free download slot, keep trying if the server is busy.

If you do not have software which can extract the ISO file, try the excellent CDBurnerXP, completely free from http://cdburnerxp.se

Once you have burned this to a CD, just insert and the Canon installer menu should automatically appear.

Please take the the time to rate this solution.
