Dreamcast wont read games more detailed problem

Well the last time it worked i was playing Sonic Adventure 2 and then it froze right before i ended the stage so ever since then my Dreamcast wont spin the disk it will spin obviously slowly and go to the starting logo and then go to the Dreamcast main menu it is 8 years old and never dropped or damaged at all the inside is clean and un tampered with no dust on the fan and never over heated but now it will not work

1. Turns on and does the Dreamcast intro

2. Stays there for a minute or two then the disk stops

3. It goes to the main menu and will say insert disk if you select play

4. If you open the disk trey and close it it'll read and ractically repeat step 2

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!

My Dreamcast has been doing the same thing for the last few years. I think it has something to do with the hard drive. My suggestion, is turning the dreamcast on and off over and over again until the game loads. I play a game Grandia II which does the same thing. It depends, but sometimes it takes me 20-30 tries, other times, I've done it in just 1 or 2. I have a feeling it has something to do with how the cd is precisely in the correct position, but I'm not sure. Let me know if this works.

Problems with Sonic Adventure 2 for Dreamcast, please Help!

Usually when a Dreamcast game freezes, it's because the system is having trouble reading the disc. Make sure there are no smudges or scratches on the disc. If the disc is scratched and you decide to get it resurfaced (many secondhand video game stores and movie rental places will offer this service at a very low cost) make sure you ask them to use the lightest setting possible--I've heard that resurfacing a Dreamcast disc too aggressively can make it completely unreadable.

If it's not the disc, it could be a problem with your console, but that sounds unlikely since it does it at the same part of the game every time.

Every time I put in my sonic adventure battle 2, it says "Error ocurred please go to the gamecube instruction booklet for details" but I can't find it!

Your instruction booklet will have no more details than there are on the internet, so this is the place to look. Also, "Sonic Adventure Battle 2" could be warn out. If you play this game disc a lot, it could be warn out. It could also be your Gamecube reader. It could be dirty, or broken. Try putting some rubbing alcohol on a q-tip and rub the q-tip carefully and gently on the reader.

Assuming you mean "how much does it cost", you can find it as cheap as $25 new or $5 used on Amazon.

Could be a problem with your video codecs that it may be writing in.
Try going here to get all the codecs you would ever need in one download.

I was playing sonic adventure 2 i got to knuckles level and the screen whent blank it wont play i need help please.

This appears to be a disc read error that commonly occurs with disc based game media.

Check the disc for scratchs and smudges.
Give it a good cleaning and try again.

Some game shops offer disc rebuffering and I'd suggest giving that a try if all else fails.

Another problem could be the laser in the Dreamcast wearing out, however this problem would occur in other games and can be rare if the machine is taken care of.

Give the game a good cleaning, sometimes simply water and a soft computer screen cloth can be used to clean these discs enough.

Freezing problem with Games

The Dreamcast is no longer supported because it was to easy to copy the games, but there are still a loyal few who keep the scene alive. I have no idea how much you want to put into fixing the problem, but the only way to fix your problem is flashing the Dreamcast BIOS.

Modification 101:

The Dreamcast is basically a computer; with the right programming you can do anything; and having a Dreamcast Keyboard is nice.
