SOURCE: "failure of "cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamp"

they can be repaired by an electronic tech but are cheaper buying a new one. The cost of new inverters range from 30-80$ USD. Viewsonics don't cost that much and now you can get 18.5 inch widw screen acer or other brand lcds for 89$.

i woudl really suggest just buying anew unit.

Viewsonic won't power up

I see so many here with no sound/nopicture issues:

ISSUES:

1. IF sound main fuse/s are good.
2. If no power or standby check main fuse, standby power supply and any signsof damage you can see---burnt parts etc.
3. almost all these sets the troubleshooting involves checking voltages on the main power board to narrow down theproblem.
4. Be safe and if you do not know what you are doing don't open the set.

Answers to issues:

1. RE:fuses---if a blown fuse is found get a good replacement(not the genericones like Radio Shack). Many fuses are special even aside from amperage--Don'tput a higher rated amperage fuse in the set for any reason.

2. RE: power supply in set: if total dead aside from main fuse the set uses astandby power supply that runs 7/24 and a main supply (some are combined andsome not.

Here aside from checking fuses you want to examine all the filter caps on thepower/standby to see if any are puffed up or buldged up in some fashion--Iattach a photo of a good one---top should be silver metal and PERFECTLY flatand have no brown material coming out on top or bottom.

What happens in the standby area is they use caps with too low a voltage rating(saves money) which causes them to fail in a year or two---the standby runs7/24 and the heat dries out the caps and they fail.

3. Trouble shooting consists of the above and then at some point you have to buyand try a board to see if it fixes it or not.

4. Safety first--no TV set is worth getting injured or even killed over.If set is opened at least look for puffed up and bad caps like in thisphoto.6_17_2012_2_14_45_pm.jpg6_17_2012_2_15_03_pm.jpg

Power locked viewsonic n1930w

On the tv itself hold down CHANNEL button and hold the MENU button then press the POWER button, You will get into the service menu. from here I went in to the CARNIVAL menus and changed the PW setting then backed out... Power button worked. Then I went back in and played with everything else... but in the end left everything the way it was in the end. I suggest you do the same. Good luck.

ViewSonic N1930w-2M turning on in gray in stead of color and will not link to computer

Sounds like like the viewsonic has seen it's better days or the Video Card in the computer is bad. To isolate the problem try connecting another monitor to the computer. Borrow a monitor from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker and connect it to the computer. If the Borrowed monitor displays correctly, then your original ViewSonic is bad. If the Borrowed monitor does the same as your original ViewSonic, then the Video Card in the computer is bad.

Whilst using my axis 9 it released a burning smell (rubber) and just turned off. Now it won't even turn back on and still has a cd inside.

bad capacitor on the inside of the unit.
usually the 10000uf 16v tall cap blue or black cap.
look for a bulge on the top.
replace it with a higher voltage cap.

I will be watchings my viewsonic n1930w and the screen goes black like its in sleep mode but I cant see the menu or picture at all. I can power off the TV for 10 to 15 minutes and then it will turn on like...

Sounds like your power supply electrolytic caps are going bad.....or you have a small board break in one of the circuit connections that doesnt break until the unit warms up.

First, you can use a can of cold blast to check for that heat break. You need to be able to shoot the cold blast at small areas of the board to see when the unit comes back on..indicating the break was shrunk closed by the coldness of the spray. If the unit fails to come on....you can remove the power supply and replace the caps as a group *(recommended since when one is bad...the others are sure to follow)

Good luck and be careful. These power supplys produce high voltage for the backlight and have `110V AC running into them. Be very sure you are adept at handling live circuits or find someone with electronics skills who will work on the cheap!

No picture on N3250W viewsonic

I just had a viewsonic supply all apart with a blown capacitor, I believe c36. q7 a surface mount npn transistor on the solder side of board was shorted. Replaced cap and transistor, set works fine. Also, check all your electrolytics on this board as they sometimes swell and go bad.
