F-51 code on Cabrio Washer

I started getting an F-51 code and read the posts on this site. I opened up the top and took out the plastic tub ring. Several socks and a t-shirt were in the bottom of the plastic drum. I took out the center bolt and removed the stainless steel drum Once the clothes were out the washer ran fine and no more code F-51. This is a great site. Thanks to all who helped.

There's something in that outer tub...and you can take that to the bank. 7 out of 10 times

I am having same problem...the first code was F...the tech did come to replace the control panel never stayed to verify if washer was fixed. Within about 2 minutes after leaving the washer is now showing a code F51 which is rotating sensor. I'm finding as I do my research these washers have this problem quite often and whirlpool has not offered a recall. I have been without a washer for 3 weeks...NOT a happy customer at all.

Usually this means you have a bad rps sensor that is attached to your motor. when you lifted the lid you should have seen the tech sheet it is attached inside the cabinet in the front. this should help you. the rps sensor has i believe 3 wires attached to it with a quick disconnect. let me know if this helps.

Our whirlpool cabrio washer model wtw8500dc0 will start a cycle. It shows error codes E9 F7 what is the problem?

you either have a bad motor or a piece of clothing is stuck between the tubs, open the lid and see if the tub will spin,if not clothes got down between the tubs.also check the wires down near the motor, sometimes the snap inside the casing from the tub going off balance,if there is a piece of clothing stuck between the tubs you pop off the top plastic part on the tub but first you have to get the top of washer off to do this, usually the clothing will be in the back right side, the metal might be sharp on the tub,i use a coat hanger to hook the clothing and pull it out, good luck and hope this helps,go here to see error codes.

I have change stuck is washer making noise when washing. How do I get it out

If this is a Whirlpool Cabrio, it has two pumps. One is the drain pump and the other is a recirc pump. In most cases, loose change an other items end up in one of these pumps. The following link explains how to access and check the pump(s) on the washer for obstructions.

If you have something stuck in the wash tub, you will need to remove the washplate in the center of the wash tub. Follow these steps:

1. Lift the washer top panel by locating the retaining clips in the seam along the front (about two inches in from each side). Use a putty knife to push in while lifting on the top panel to release.

NOTE: Its a good idea to tape the lid shut to prevent it from flying open when you lift the washer top.

2. Remove the wash tub ring. This is the plastic ring around the perimeter of the top of the wash tub. There are a series of release tabs around the tub that you can pry with a screwdriver.

NOTE: The washplate will not come out with the tub ring in place.

3. With the tub ring removed, pop the center post cap off the washplate. Locate the center nut and remove. Hold the washplate with one hand as you loosen to keep it from turning.

4. Lift the washplate out of the tub.

With the wash plate removed, you should easily be able to access anything stuck in the spin basket.

If you have any questions, or if this is NOT a Cabrio, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

My whirlpool top load washer doesn't drain the water. when i advance the dial to spin or to start over, nothing happens. how can i drain it? will this fix the problem?

take the top off it is easy. it has 4 clip springs. when you get the top off you will see a plastic ring with holder clip push them in and pull them up the ring will come off. This gives you full visual to the bottom of tub. check to see is something is between the tub and the outside plastic remove this. if you do not want to remove top pull washer out you will see if something is there.

Cabrio top load flashing F51

Was a far easier fix for me than all this RPS sensor hunting. For my Maytag's F51 error, there were socks lodged between the inner and outer tubs, causing too much friction on the motor. This led to the computer reading poor performance of the motor. Please consider trying this easy fix before calling out service personnel or replacing circuitry!!! I spent hours under the machine messing with the motor and circuitry until I looked up at the translucent tub and saw stray laundry stuck where it shouldn't be.
* Open the lid. Turn the bottom agitator by hand. Give it a good push. It should continue rolling on for several turns. If not, there is laundry stuck between the tubs causing friction.
1.) Pry open the metal case lid. Take two flat head screwdrivers and wedge them in the crack about 6 inches from the left corner, and use them as levers to pop the metal lid, then the right corner. Lift up the metal case lid and lean it against the wall.
2.) Take off the plastic ring that bridges the gap between the inner and outer tubs. There are many little catches all around the perimeter of the outer tub that hold on this plastic ring. Find those catches and put outward and upward pressure on those to release the catches.
3.) Look down in the gap between the inner and outer tubs for stray laundry. I used a retrieval tool (Lowes 403255) below to grab the socks. There were especially several socks in the back right corner near the pump inlet. Run the drain and spin cycle and look again. There were more strays hiding that I nabbed the second time!
4.) Snap the inner cover on by lining up all those catches and seating them. Snap the big metal lid back on by aligning and giving a good downward thump. Run the machine and be the hero, and don't be too mean to your wife about tossing those socks down in the crevices. Half hour and $3 for the retrieval tool is far better than all that RPS mess.

Whirlpool Cabrio Leaks Water

Good luck. Mine did the same and they sent their technicians out to fix the problem. A&E comes out and replaces the tub ring. They told me the washer is now made with the tub ring in place. When he opened the washer up I noticed I now have rust inside my washer. I have spent a month trying to get Whirlpool to replace my washer but they will only replace parts. A&E came out to replace the tub ring and now my door creaks and my washer does not go back together correctly. Hopefully you can justreturn the washer to where you got it. Read other reviews on line. It sounds like this washer is a lemon. Sorry!

Whirlpool Cabrio HE washing machine displays error code F51. What is it and hw to I fix it?

I work for an appliance repair company and I had a recent service call for the same exact situation on this washer. I also know that Rotary Position Sensor is linked to the F-51 error code. I have found that this is not always the case. On this paticular call the F-51 error code was caused by a piece of clothing (sock, wash cloth, etc.) being stuck or jammed between the internal basket and the outer tub. I removed the cloth and the washer ran fine, so give that a check first before you spend the money.
