Installing windows xp on toshiba protege 500

I just bought a protege 500. It comes with 2 reboot disks: one for vista and one for xp. I wanted to install exp, but it didn't give me the option on start-up so I installed Vista. Now, when I put in the xp reboot disk, nothing happens. What do I do now??!!

If you look at the bottom of the device usually u can find it on a sticker at the back, or you may chose to access control panel and try viewing from the system if you are running xp, am sure it is a similar route with vista or windows 7. good luck

I changed the hard drive in my m400 and i doesnt load windows says somthing about a dianostic disc! what do I do.

You haven't said whether you installed Windows from the original factory discs which came with the laptop. If you haven't done that yet, open the cd tray and put the 1st disc in. Shut down the laptop. Reboot the laptop and it should boot off the disc and ask you if you want to "format" the hard drive. At this point you should be able to follow the on screen instructions until everything is loaded, including all hardware drivers. Any other software you had on your old drive will need to be reinstalled on this drive from the disc. If the software is old you may want to go to the appropriate website for the driver and download the newest version. That should complete your install. Let me know if you need more help.

I want to reboot my toshiba protege but i do not have any disk what can i do?

You will need to either borrow a buy a system disc. Don't forget to backup your drivers to a disc or pendrive first. Or download from the Toshiba website.

Need to install new os for motion computing m1400 can anyone help

I suggest Windows XP Pro...
You can open a lot more programs than what you can on Windows Vista with the same amount of RAM etc....
-
Or you could go for Vista.
Is there a CD Drive does it connect to PC?
I have no idea how to work these.
If it connect's through USB Insert a Windows XP disk into your Drive reboot your PC and install it to remove able Drive.
If you want to ensure that it does not scrub your PC copy then disconnect your PC's Hard Drive.
Sorry if I make no sense I am tired.
Hope it help's.
-Tom.

Will not start up after system recovery done with disks.

If you have a Windows XP or Windows Vista CD (or if you can borrow one), insert it into the CD Drive and restart the system. Boot from the CD, and choose the "R" for Repair console.

Log onto the Windows installation you want to repair.

At the prompt, type FIXMBR and answer yes.

Type exit.

Hi

You can obtain the Recovery disk from Toshiba. Toshiba hotline number 1-800-457-7777 (US) 0844 800 6020 (UK). You need to provide your computer's part number correct to get the matching recovery disk. Usually they charges $39.95 including shipping to your address in US. Alternately you can go to http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/generic_content.jsp?service=UK&ID=Support_Homepage_uk

Good Luck
