SOURCE: reinstall windows xp pro

Ok firstly, you will need to get rid of Vista all together before you can Install XP, Use a partition program to do this, You can find a bunch just by typing partition software into google, Delete the main partition that windows is on, Then create a new partition, then format that partition as a Primary partition, I always use the NTFS format just for stability and it can handle larger files than a 32 Bit partition, when you have done that then you need to get a bootable windows xp and I think you have that if set up is starting but hanging. Just go through the windows setup and you will be done. BE AWARE that you will loose everything thats on the drive by doing this so backup what you want to keep before you start, Always an idea to get the XP drivers for the system as well, The Vista drivers WILL NOT work on an XP system

Hope that helps.

If you run into problems then let me know and I will help you with it

SOURCE: i cant find vista drivers for dell optiplex gx270 pc

You can download the drivers from Dell WEB site, the support download page. Make sure you select your model laptop, better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on the bottom of the laptop. This will open the page where the specific drivers for your model laptop are located. Also make sure you select the Windows XP or Vista version of the driver for your Windows operating system.

Please describe your I have dell OptiPlex GX260 PC i tried to find it Ethanet driver at dell support but only have drivers for windows XP, but i am using Vista. I want driver that will work with windows...

That model Optiplex was made so long ago it's no longer in production and they are not going to make a driver for windows vista for it. Your best bet is to install either a half-height PCI network card or a USB network adapter that is supported under windows vista.

Install Vista of Pc

You can be sure by downloading the free Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor Tool from Microsoft.com. Once installed it will scan your system & let you know if your system can be upgraded to vista, which versions are available & if you need additional drivers. If you do need drivers you can find them at dell.com under the support section. All you will need is your model # or your Dell Service Tag #. Hope this helps & please remember to rate my answer. Thanks.

Lost resolution windows vista upgrade on GX260

Hi all,

I tried numerous solutions for this issue and none of them worked except this one. I tested it with Vista Ultimate and don’t know if other Vista versions have the same drivers but here’s what worked for me:

1. Right click ‘Computer’ then left click ‘Properties’ to open up System window.
2. Click ‘Device Manager’
3. Click ‘+’ on ‘Display Adapters’ and you should see the drivers for your video. Right click and select ‘Update Driver Software...’
4. Select ‘Browse my computer for driver software’ and click ‘next’.
5. Click ‘Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer’
6. Untick ‘Show compatible hardware’
7. Select ‘Intel Corporation’ then select ‘Intel 82865G’. Click next.

This will install the drivers. No they are not the same drivers for the hardware but they work a treat!
