I changed the battery in my Fossil Grimm FS-4154 just yesterday. It takes a CR2016 coin cell. There is no need to reset the watch as long as the battery is installed in one fluid motion: if all the LCD segments turn on (88:88), just press the MODE button and the watch will reset. If it shows random junk instead, remove the battery and try again. The hardest part was getting the back plate back on; that required 2 vise-grips locking pliers, a pair of regular pliers, and a disturbing amount of force.
