SOURCE: pet hair clippers blades move but dont cut.

Do not use regular oil on the clippers.

Instead use OSTER KOOL-LUBE.

We were told the blades become to hot with regular lubricating oil such as 3 & 1.

We bought some KOOL-LUBE from our neighborhood PetsMart and it corrected the problem on both sets of our clippers (one heavy duty clipper for dogs, one regular clipper for humans).

Here is a link to KOOL-LUBE on the PetsMart web site:

SOURCE: Oster A5 clippers blades stop moving when put into

How old is your clipper, Oster clippers need to be adjusted for more power and speed, also what clipper blade are you using to cut the horse hair and how long is the horse hair, Also the blade may not be sharp, some new blade are sharp maybe defective.

SOURCE: oster clippers blade

John! No Problem!
First put the bigger of the two blades witht the size/number facing down, put the cutter on top. (with the side with the flat side of the teeth facing down) Then put the tongue guide inside the tension spring, make sure the tension spring rail is on the tension rail and place them on top of the cutter. To see which bits these are go to: http://www.sheareaseltd.com/clipper-blade-sharpening/clipper-blades-the-parts
This picture whows the front and back, it differs slightly from your blade, but its same meat different gravy!

Hold all this together with your finger and thumb, flip it over and scre the whole lot together!

Oster problems. Golden a5 clipper

The blade driving lever is certainly supposed to move, if it isn't then take the cover off and check the cam gear, it's really easy to change it.

The brand new gear lever on my oster a5 isnt moving the clipper blade

make sure the blade is clicked into place fully, secondly check to see if the blade is sitting further away from the clipper than usual, it could also be a stripped gear inside the clipper does the lever move when the blade is engaged?

Wahl clippers

Check to see if the blade is moving when turned on. If the blade isn't moving the clipper blade may need to be thoroughly cleaned. If the blade is clean and well lubricated but still not moving you may have blown the motor.
However, if the blade is moving freely when turned on, and the hair/fur is just not being cut (or is cutting raggedly or pulling at the hair/fur) you will need to get the blade sharpened.

Does someone know which # blade to use with the Oster, universal comb set for use with the Oster A5 turbo clipper?

Hi, as far as I know you're suppose to use a size 10 or 30 blade with any combs. I prefer to buy a longer blade like a size 4 rather than using the combs as I find the coat finish not great with the combs.

The clippers are back together but are cutting the skin and still dont sound right did i put them together right.

Did you remove the comb and blade only? If so, the comb (the part that doesn't move and is closest to the skin) should extend beyond the reach of the blade (the part that does move left and right). Nicking is sometimes caused by excessive pressure against the skin. A properly adjusted blade will resemble someone with an underbite (extended lower jar) with the comb part extending beyond the blade.

Most clippers have a clatter adjustment screw. Turn this until the clipper clatters (buzzes really loud) and then adjust it back until the clatter stops (but not too far or you will lose power and the blade will stall or cut slowly). Be sure to oil the blades. Mineral oil (from a drugstore) will do if you can't get shaver oil.

Good luck from Detroit, MI

Brand new blades #10 in perticular leave stripes

hi, new blades are not the answer try replacing the blade drive assembly which is located at the drive end of the clipper and goes from side to side, as the clippers are used this part will gradually wear in width thus not moving the cutter far enough to complete a cut this will produce snagging in smaller blades and tram lines in larger blades like 7, 5, 4 and 3's. All Clipper Parts are available for these clipper repairs.
