SOURCE: Need to replace or remove

Called company.  Have to eliminate water pressure by moving refrigerator out and turning off incoming water from line in back.  They said water pressure was preventing cartridge cap from turning.

SOURCE: water filter replacement

I have the same problem. I did change the filter located on the bottom front panel of the refrigerator, but the red light is still on and NO ice. I can't figure it out and I know if I call a tech, its a 300.00 bill. Frustrated.

SOURCE: Removing the water filter and not replacing

Not with out re plumbing the unit underneath, it would be much easier to leave it in place.

SOURCE: Refrigerator gushing water through ice maker filter

Filters themselves don't usually leak. Check full insertion of filter, cracked filter housing or cracked supply line.

Hello, I've been using the "Whirlpool 25.1 cu.

Maybe trash has made its way to valve and it is partially stuck open. Or maybe all air is not out of line. Run water through dispenser until it stops splurting air and there is a steady stream of water.

Where is the filter for the ice maker on whirlpool refer model number ED2CHOXK005

Removing and replacing a water filter - base grill location

Filters situated in the base grill (below the freezer compartment) of Whirlpool-built side-by-side refrigerators are relatively simple to replace. Follow these two steps:
  1. Grasp the filter's end and make a one-quarter turn to the left.
  2. Pull the filter straight out.
To replace with a new filter, repeat these two steps in the opposite order, making sure to first remove the red cap from the filter. Proceed by pushing the filter straight into the slot, and then giving it a one quarter turn to the right.
Note: Replacing this type of filter is quick - there is no need to unplug your refrigerator when replacing it. Also, this filter should be replaced every six months.

Water not coming out of fridge

First, I'm not a Whirlpool Tech.
*** Following is for information only.***
* Sputtering or no water from Ice machine and tap indicates a clog on the water line.
* Most of the newer (last 15 years) refrigerators come with a built in filter. It's probably clogged. Check the link below for changing out filter or type in "Whirlpool refrigerator water filter replacement'
* There could be ice blockage in water line if you have a very low temperature setting on your fridge. Most are set in the middle of the dial. If your set at maximum could then this setting may be too cold for the water line (it's coiled in the back of the refrigerator and may have frozen up.) Back the temperature a bid and give it a day or two to melt.
* The ice tray is missing a cover.
* Ice tray "Ice Full" lever is stuck in the Full position. Check if the Ice level (usually a stiff wire) is in the down or empty position. (some lock in the full position to turn off ice maker manually.)
* Check the water line to the refrigerator (or In-Line water filter) for water pressure. Turn off water supply. Remove water line from refrigerator and place end of line in empty bucket. Hold line down and have someone turn water back on then off after a few seconds (they may be too far to hear you yell "turn it off?!") If it just sputters then the line needs to be cleared. Check the needle valve for clogging. Close it off and re-open it several times. Otherwise this valve needs to be replaced.
* Follow the flow of water through each part: Supply line, supply valve, Water filter, Refrigerator inner filter, Tap point and Ice maker.
* Final, Check your warranty as any work (other than a MFR recommended customer water filter change out.) will void it. Call your vendor for service to be safe. (Have them do an annual maintenance while they are servicing your unit.)
