I have a Motorola Razr V3a that works fine except the backlight stays on constantly will not turn off and it runs down the battery in no time. Any suggestions?
From the manual, p. 31: "BACKLIGHT Set the amount of time that the display and keypad backlights stay on, or turn off backlights to extend battery life.

Try going under menu setting tools display settings and see if the backlight setting is on always on. If it is click a different time length you would like. Let me know if that helps!! Have a good day:)
hi..ur motorola v3i is defaulted with 7 to 10 hrs of battery life only...o save more power...
Keep the brightness on the screen to a minimum. You can also adjust how long the backlight stays on without input from the user.
Turn off the Bluetooth when not in use. Bluetooth is a big battery draw.
Disable incoming beams so that the phone isn't constantly "searching" for infrared partners.
Completely close non-essential programs. When you run an application, it does not shut down completely when you "close" it. It is simply minimized. Go into the Settings to completely shut down any programs you are no longer using
also u cud get a car charger so that u cud be sure not to run out of juice..

in the case of your phone, you have to replace the keypad membrane of your phone, if you cant find a spare keypad membrane, you have to replace the whole flex. you can buy a flex in motorolla service centers near your place.
The Motorola V3m has a light sensor, which is visible just above the right soft key -- the key above the CLR button. This light sensor turns the backlight on when you press a key in the dark and disables the keypad backlight when you are in a well-lit area.
Your phone sounds like it's operating normally. I believe they disabled the option to activate or deactivate that feature.
Try removing the battery for a few seconds then restart the phone. Other than that, it could be a defective switch on the phone that detects when it's closed. If it answers / hangsup when the opened or closed... the switch is good.
