Created ck.thru write cks.window for gst have since caught up and used the qbs feature to close that period . the first ck.has been reconciled with bank can't delete that. the qbs advisor says delete the one the feature created ,is that the way to go ? WHEN I WENT TO DO THAT I GET A WARNING THAT THERE COULD BE A HUGE PROBLEM.
I am assuming that you are reffering to a sales tax check. There are a couple of ways it can be corrected.
One is to remove the cleared checkmark from the write check in the bank account register, delete the check, and create the new check using the Pay Sales tax, then mark the new check as cleared in the register to keep the reconcile correct. The other way is to delete the second check, as the PAP suggested, and do a sales tax liability adjustment.
Either way, I HIGHLY, HIGHLY..( did I mention I REALLY suggest) you make a backup of the data first!
That way, if things go wrong, you restore the backup and you are no worse off than you are right now.

rknrobbyy, Try this: with the QB file open go to FILE..... UTILITIES....VERIFY DATA (this will go thru a process to identify if there is a problem) If there is a problem QB will let you know then the next step would be to rebuild data. IF this does not work there are a few other things you can do. You can call me @ 612 718-3023 and I can walk you thru the process. ThanksTammie Nasseff CPA
Step one is run scandisk. If you have a cross linked or corrupted file it will sort that out automactically. Step 2 is to google "where is the quickbooks repair feature".....odds are someone has used it before. Step 3.....save your Quickbooks database (in at least two places) and delete and reinstall Quickbooks if all else fails.
