2006 Chevy Uplander. The power sliding doors open but I can not get tehm to close. They slide to close but when they go to latch, it slides back open. The other day it took me 30 minutes to get the door to stay shut and that was with locking the power feature. Is there any way to bi-pass the power feature where it won't chime the entire time?
2 possible solutions. First clean the door pin contacts(multiple spring loaded pins on door side and matching plate on body) with a scotch pad until shiny gold color again. Second the rear edge of the door should be 1mm inside the body opening when closed. If those are correct it is going to take a software download from a dealer to the door control module to fix this. Otherwise you will have to pull the psd fuse and breaker from the right side dash fuse box.
Two ways to stop the doors opening on there own.one quick fix is to just put the child safty on the inside of the door to " LOCK ".The door will now only open if the outside handle is pulled. to better fix the problem both the end of the pins on the inside of the door and the plates on the door jam need to be cleaned of oxidation. DO NOT USE a harsh emery cloth or sandpaper to do this,this will cause the problem to reoccur very quickly.instead use something like a MR CLEAN MAJIC ERASRE to lightly polish the serface's clean then put a small dab of anti-oxident electrical contact paste(any electrical store will sell this its the stuff that stops electrical wires from oxidising) on the end of the pins .when the car was new it had this on there but over time it gets washed off and oxidation sets in,then you take it to the dealer who trys to clean it up but scratchs up the serface so bad that the pins cant get a good contact and because there is no paste on the plates oxidation sets in to the serface twice as fast as before.....Back to the dealer again....follow this simple fix and your doors will work just fine....DONT SKIP THE PASTE.
I removed the rubber molding (it is only there for aesthetic purposes only...as I asked the dealership), and have not had any problems since.
Mine did the Exact same thing and it drove me CRAZY because I couldn't figure out why...and it did it a few times... I realized that the rubber molding above the bottom track was coming off a bit in one area so I pushed it back on firm and Walahhh...fixed the door!
There should be a switch on the upper console to turn off power sliding doors. check to make sure there is nothing (including dirt build-up) in the bottom track. also make sure the brass points on the jamb are clean
