Question about Washing Machines
Loud clacking sound from the washing machine as the spin and rinse cycle starts. There is also evidence of a burning smell. The machine washes ok but cant spin to empty the machine of water. Dont think its the water pump as this makes a differnert sound and i fixed that last year. Any thoughts??
Yes you either have a whirlpool or kenmore...since you didnt mention the make I guessed :) It sounds like you have a bad coupling, have included a link giving you instructions for replacing the coupling and a link where you can buy the coupling.
p.s you don't actually have to remove the cabinet, the motor, pump and coupling can be accessed by tilting the machine back and wedging something under it so it does not fall on you while your working on it.
you can purchase the part from:
Hope this helps.
