SOURCE: forgot password fot toshiba satellite m45-s169
Thats a Power On Password...I believe the only way that you can get around/reset/disable it...is by taking out the battery out of the Cmos. I will be looking for more ways other then that but thats one that i know works...
If you would like to attempt it...i dont recommend it for the no computer people...look up fourms and see if others have had the same problem or if people have taken the computer apart and replaced the cmos battery

Was just looking for that myself - found the Toshiba manual here. Toshiba's site is useless.

This is your manual. There is a cover on the base of the laptop.
Take the screw out, take the cover off, there should be a spare space for the memory module.
You push the memory in at a 45 degree angle and gently push down till the clips lock it in place.
You may use a maximum of 2gb ram in 2 1gb sticks.
you will need pc2700 (ddr333)
Amazon has some cheap memory here

Actually you can put just about any size in there. The only thing you need to do is match the connector style. (that takes care of anything else) There are two type SATA and EIDE SATA is the new style and you can get a 500gb drive (and bigger ) EIDE is the older style and has a block looking socket. SATA looks like a tab. On the label on your dead drive you should see a diagram and it should say sata or eide.
Now as long as you get the same connector as your old drive you can get what ever size of drive they have. So this is a good time to spend $10 more and get a 160 or a 320 instead of the 80. The brand does not matter as long as the conenctor and type are correct. I put a 160 in a old A70 I had as there was only a few dollars difference in the prices.
