SOURCE: Frigidaire Washer Model FWT647GHSO

I had the same problem with my FWT647GHSO front loader shaking, the bearings in the outer rear drum were gone, I repair machinery for a living not appliances ( except my own ) and the job took me close to 4 hours to complete, it is working well now but I did notice some hairline cracking on the yoke that holds the inner basket so I guess it's time to start saving my pennies for a new one :( too bad the inner drum is ~$200.00 or I would endure the 4 hours labor again to replace that as well. Best of luck

SOURCE: washing machine spins slowly and smells of burning rubber

The belt could be worn and will be slipping on the pullys, as it spins up the rubber , rubs against the pullys and that is what creats the burning rubber smell, the belt needs replacing.

SOURCE: Mid-cycle my washing machine stopped working.

Could be one of three issues, timer, capacitor, or the most like canidate the motor assm. Usually 90% of the time, its that motor. Those motors are pretty expensive (part number 389248) and you need to replace motor coupler (part number 285753A) when you change it.

SOURCE: burning smell during spin cycle on frigidaire washing machine

Open lid as you would load clothes and hold the inner drum with all the holes in it. Give it a manual turn left, then right. If it spins in both ways the main bearing is gone. This is not a DIY because the new bearing has to be pressed on at a machine shop, or an appliance repair shop.

My whirlpool ultimate careII quiet wash washer stopped working in mid cycle. It won't agitate, drain, spin, fill with water, nothing. The washer makes a humming sound and an electrical burning smell.

If your smelling electrical burn.. It's most likely to be the motor is bad.. Or just stuck, new washers made today are DC motors and contain a circuit board in the motor.. And are not serviceable.. Just replace them..

Affinity stops in the middle of a cycle a just shuts off no signal or anything?

use the following steps. God bless you

Lid Switch Assembly

If the washer stops mid cycle the lid switch assembly might be defective. This is a very common problem. The lid switch assembly can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any electrical switches with an Ohm meter for continuity. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Door Lock Motor and Switch Assembly

If the washer stops mid cycle the door lock assembly should be checked. The door lock can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any switches on the door lock with an Ohm meter. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Water Inlet Valve

If the washer stops mid cycle the water inlet valve cold water side may have failed. Most washers have a cold water rinse and so if they can't fill with cold water they just sit indefinitely waiting for the cold water to enter. If there is cold water to the water inlet valve and the cold water works in other parts of the cycle - or to make warm water - the valve is not the problem.

Main Control Board

If the washer stops mid-cycle the main control board might be defective. This is not common. Check other causes first such as the lid or door switch and other components.

If the washer stops mid cycle the timer might be defective. This part is often misdiagnosed, check other components before replacing this timer.

Maytag washer sounds like a jackhammer when rinsing - this is a new thing with all loads. Yesterday it shut down mid cycle while still full of water and we smelled a burning rubber smell. Any ideas?

There is only one belt on the machine (the burning rubber smell, probably). Sounds like something is wrong with the clutch /drive mechanism. Unless your an accomplished DIY'er, it sounds like a job for the Maytag Man.
Sorry.........................

Stops washing mid way of cycle

Remove the two screws at the bottom corners. Lift the bottom front out and down to release the top clips. Inspect the belt for wear.
