For gtalk/msn/yahoo being blocked, try to visit http://webuzz.im/, another new web IM service provider. It may help you to access gtalk/yahoo/msn. It is in Gtalk UI.

the sneaky long term solution around ANY filtering yes even veiwing p*rn at work...

setup "squid" proxy server at home its free google it, they have instruictions. then get firefox protable on a flash drive set it up to use your home IP address as a proxy. browse away...

the reason this works is that if the filtering software doesnt know that your home "website" is bad then it doesnt block it, and facebook will think your logging from home when really your at work talking to your home computer.

Gtalk issue
Maybe you need to configure the proxy settings of your gtalk application. Or you can try downloading a new gtalk installer and install it. if problem still persists, there may be a configuration on the gtalk application, or your computer has been infected with a malware virus that blocks your system from connecting to their server.
