How do you replace the belt drive in the Yamaha CDC 615?
The drive belt on my CDC-615 stretched out this year too, and needs to be replaced. Unplug the CDC-615 from power. Remove two screws on the left side of the housing, two screws on the right side of the housing, and one screw from the middle top of the rear panel. This will allow the top panel to be removed.
Temporarily re-connect the CDC-615 to power and power it on. Press the "PlayXchange" or "Open/Close" button, which will drop the laser pickup/play head and spindle, and start the open/close motor. Power the CDC-615 down while the motor is running, to leave the laser pickup/play head and spindle in the "down" position. You should now disconnect the CDC-615 from power once again.
From here, you can simply push on the CD tray from behind, until it's in the fully open position. This will reveal the drive wheels (one large and one small pulley) just beneath the tray on the left side, with the tray facing you. This is where the replacement belt goes.
Reverse the steps to put it back together.
