The pump could possibly be jammed. you will need to drain the machine and remove the filter to check for any obstruction

if its no heat there only 2 items it can be heater element or the thermostats u could test the element by replacing the plugged in wires with wires that hasve a plug on place the wires into right places turn the plug on and if the element works it will start to glow turn it off as soon as u see it glowing from the inside of the washer also u can check the thermostats by dropping them into hot water and u should hear them pop

Disconnect the machine from the mains. Turn off the water supply to the machine. Disconnect the cold water pipe from the machine at the top corner.(Watch out for some water) Remove the drain hose from where you have it going to. Pull the machine out and lay it gently down on the left side panel (use a towel to protect the side and absorb any water). Then, from the now exposed underside there is a black rubber pipe connected to the pump (black) coming from the main drum. Use some pliers to pinch the steel spring that clamps the hose in place and remove. Then using your fingers (there is nothing sharp in there) see if you can find any blockage. Carefully replace the black hose making sure it is fully on. Replace the drain hose, reconnect the water pipe and turn the water back on. (check to see it's dry with no leaks). Plug it in, turn on!
Have you already done this step, or were you just cleaning the bottom of the machine. Also check your drain hose for any signs of pluggage. Let me know if this works for you!

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

Many machines will not even go to rinse or spin or release the door lock if there is any water still left inside.
I would gently suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor/pump lint tray/filter- so many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters.

Following are my complete and hopefully 'coverall' pre-typed guidance notes for checking both the drain motor filter and the drain motor ;-0)

REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT (alternatively use a wet vac as sensibly suggested by VinnyB1234!)
If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!). These panels are either held on by (plasic) screws or will just pull off. Most filters are held in by a round cover/knob. Sometimes the filter will not come out with the cover and you will have to persuade it to come out to play.
It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. Using something suitable like a glove see if it is easy to briefly slow the motor down. If it is easy then the motor is malfunctioning.

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

Testimonial: "thank you for you help, i had pretty much already done most of the above, apart from your tip about doing a spin cycle with the filter off which i did and saw that the drum would now spin, anyway the filter motor did not turn at all, i tried to turn the motor with my finger anti clockwise aswell as clockwise and it still didnt turn by itself, the resistance of the motor was the same as when the machine is switched off so i guess the motor is not working, will contact ESPARES.co.uk tomorrow, thanks again."

Have you selected a program? Is water available? You haven't selected delay?
Then I suspect it may be a faulty door sensor, it wont start if it thinks the door is not shut. Try opening and reshutting the door.

Light flashing halfway through cycle

Start with the basics. Do you have the right detergent and the right amount of detergent? It sounds to me like that could be it. Too many clothes or not enough clothes could do it too. These new washers weigh the load and make an attempt to fix problems by stopping. The motor over amps with suds problems. It has to run more cycles to get the water clear. Yeah the machine checks the water. So if you have too much soap or the wrong soap or the soap in the wrong portion of the dispenser that could be causing it and then their could be a clogged pump filter.

My Hotpoint Aqualtis AQXXD 169 PM is adding time to the was cycle, taking longer to wash through the cycle? ant ideas?

the time is a generic time and will adjust accordingly as goes through programe-for example it allows a certain time to heat in the winter your cold supply may be colder so the machine needs longer to heat water-load size-if its adding more than 30 mins then check filter
