My samsung G3 station worked fine with my samsung laptop, then my laptop broke so i had to get a new mother board fitted and since this when i plug in my G3 its asking me to format it but i dont want to incase i lose everything off it! help please!!

Assuming you don't hear any activity it might be the power supply that has died. Check if it's under any warrant.. if not you can always rescue the hard drive by taking it out of the enclosure and plugging it into your PC. Odds are it's a SATA drive. Either way.. taking it out of the enclosure will rule out of it's the hard drive or the components. Good luck.

Take it back to where you bought it, and EXERCISE THE WARRANTY to get it replaced/repaired.

Your external drive may not be coming up due to a defected usb adapter, this might also explain why your computer fails to recognize the device. Try getting a new adapter and see if that works

Hi there,


Once the device is plugged in, Please go to device manager and look for the instance of the Samsung harddisk drive. Right click on it and see if you have a Power Management tab available. Under Power Management, untick all the options there and reboot the computer. Check if it would still goes off during the routine backup.

I think you'd be better of with buying a external box to put the drive into it . You need to cautiously break the original box open and proceed with the transfer .

Don't try solder it. you will burn up *********** board. put some super glue on a tooth pick and pull out the pin and get a new power plug
