PXE == Pre Execution Environment

Your computer can "boot" from various devices:
* floppy-disk
* CD-ROM
* USB memory stick
* DVD drive
* hard-drive
* over the network

If you don't have a "network boot server" somewhere on your network, you will get that "boot failed" message.

Enter BIOS SETUP mode, and disable "PXE boot over network", and make sure that the hard-drive and/or the CD/DVD drives are listed as candidates to be eligible boot-devices.

Your computer tries to "boot" from various devices:
* internal disk-drive
* internal CD/DVD drive
* internal 3.5" drive
* external USB device (memory stick, external CD drive, et cetera)
* via your network-adapter -- trying to connect to a "boot-server"

So, restart your computer, and enter BIOS SETUP mode.
Be sure that the disk-drive *IS* listed.
If you want, exclude the "network" boot-device,
since the error-messages that you are seeing are indicating that *NO* boot-server exists on your network.

What the messages *COULD* imply is that there is no media in the CD/DVD drive,
no media in the 3.5" drive, nothing "bootable" connected via a USB port,
*AND* that your computer *TRIED* but *FAILED* to boot from your disk-drive.

That is, your disk-drive either is electrically disconnected (no power reaching it)
or electronically disconnected (the "data" cable is not attached)
or that the disk-drive itself is "dead".

Take your computer to a qualified technician for trouble-shooting.
You may have to replace the "dead" disk-drive with a brand-new one.

When i start the laptop it shows media test failure,check cable exiting pxe rom os not found

Your computer is configured to try to "boot" from several devices:
* floppy-disk
* CD/DVD drive
* disk-drive
* network (via connecting to a "boot-server" on your local network)

So, "media test failure" means that no Ethernet cable is connected to the network-port on the computer. So, if you are trying to boot from a "boot-server" over the network, check that the Ethernet cable is connected, and check that the boot-server is processing boot-requests.

Thus, the PXE (Pre eXecution Environment) is exiting, because it cannot boot from the network -- no Operating System was accessible over the network.

So, enter BIOS SETUP, and disable the "network boot" option,
if no boot-server exists.

Also, put a boot-disk into the floppy-drive, or the CD/DVD drive,
or, most importantly, check that your disk-drive is working.

If your disk-drive is not getting power, or its "data" cable is not connected, or if the disk-drive has a problem, then Windows cannot be read from the disk, and so the computer tries an "alternate" boot-device.

My computer fell and when I turned it back on it's saying check cable connection..! PXE-E63: Error while initializing the NIC pxe-m0f:Exiting Intel pxe rom no bootable device

Usually, your computer tries to "boot" from multiple sources:

1. 3.5" diskette drive, if installed, functional, and a boot-diskette is inserted
2. CD-ROM drive, if installed, functional, and a boot-CD (such as the Windows XP CD-ROM) is inserted
3. disk-drive, if installed, functional, and the "boot" record can be read from the disk-drive
4. from the Ethernet network, via a "networked boot server"

So, "check cable" means that either no Ethernet cable is connected to the computer, or that the "networked boot server" is not installed, or the boot-server did not reply.

What this means is that your disk-drive was damaged by the fall, and the "boot" information cannot be read from the disk-drive.

So, you need to replace the disk-drive.

Keeps saying pxe e61 media test failure on boot

Your PC is trying to boot from your ethernet port(internet). It is trying to see if it can boot to that before it boots to your Hard Drive. It is normally used in businesses that have PC's that boot from a Server on the Network. Home users don't usually use PXE.

To change this go into your BIOS.(F2, or F12, or DELETE, or some key when you first turn the PC on) And you should see something called boot order, change the order to boot from the Hard Drive FIRST, CD Drive SECOND, and PXE THIRD.

Or you could turn the PXE off, you should find something in your BIOS like "Onboard Devices" and it should show "Ethernet" or "Network" as an option with choices like "ON w/ PXE", "ON", and "OFF". Change it to just "ON". And you should be fine. If you turn it "OFF" then you won't be able to use the ethernet(internet) port at all. Just set it to "ON".

Not a big deal, if it can't boot from the Network it will go to the next bootable device, which is probably your Hard Drive. It won't hurt you or your PC; it just takes an extra few seconds for it to boot to Windows instead of the Network.

Argon PXE Boot Agent v2.01 2002 - PXE - E61

Your computer tries to "boot" from several devices:
* floppy-disk
* disk-drive
* CD-ROM
* USB memory-stick
* over a network, via PXE (Pre eXecution Environment)

If you have a network-cable connected to the Ethernet port on the computer, with the other end connected to a "boot-server", then the Operating System can be loaded over this network-connection.

But, if you get "media test failure" and "check cable", then the network-cable for PXE is either non-working or not-present.

Any disk-drive that shows "ZERO" blocks is very probably a DEAD disk-drive. Replace it.

PXE-E61

Your disk-drive has failed.
So, your computer tried to boot itself over the Ethernet network,
by "broadcasting" a request for booting. When either the network-cable was _NOT_ connected, or when _NO_ computer responded to the "broadcast" message, you get "PXE: media failure".

Take your computer to a qualified technician,
to remove the "dead" disk-drive,
to replace the disk-drive,
and to reinstall Windows.
