I have a front load Hoover washing machine. The two last times i've done the laundry the machine keeps adding water the entire time; it seems to be filling up and draining at the same time. It also starts directly when I push the on button (it's supposed to wait for me to choose wash program and the push the start button.) It starts directly at the same program every time. It agitates but does not spin nor drain properly. It seems to be stuck at the "filling up water" at the beginning of the cycle. Any suggestions?

My guess is the printed circuit control panel(the brain) is going south.
There is nothing you can do with these normally, best to get a domestic appliance guy/gal to check it out. If you want to search the web for a replacement get to the back of the machine, write down the make/model/serial number/ anything else, off the manufacturers plate.
You will need this to determine any spares are correct. Don't work on the basis that a similar machine or even the same model will have the same part because appliance manf are notorious for changing specs during production.
You may find that another brand is listed as well as your own, this is because they have the same factory but are badged according to brand or region.
If the machine is old and had a good beating then you may find it more economical to buy a new one. The brain can be 50% of a new buy!!

water leak from cold hose nothing to do with other problem. tighten hose connection and fit a new hose washer overfilling probably because air chamber blocked. remove lid. you will see a pressurestat somewhere at the top - usually round with anything from 3 to 7 wires and a small tube underneath. follow hose down and it connects to the air chamber. make sure this is free of gung and check hose for splits and has no blockage. to check the pressure stat itself, attach your own hose to the stat and while machine in fill mode, blow down this hose and you should hear a click and water intake will stop

SOURCE: Draining & Spinning

I had a problem and when they took the back off. Underwire bra had got jammed through drum holes which stopped it spinning and water issues. I hope this might help.

SOURCE: water not draing away and machine is not spinning

Empty your machine manually by lowering the drain hose into a bowl or bucket. Then remove the kick plate and check the filter for blockages. Before replacing try the machine on drain to see if the pump is running, if problem persists there may be a blockage in the pipe from the drum to the pump.

SOURCE: our hoover ultra care 1300 large load washing machine spin fault

The most common cause of machines stopping mid cycle is not draining. Your machine should have a filter behind the kick plate at the bottom.
If this is not the case please post back for further assistance.

SOURCE: Machine not draining

Can you hear the pump running just before the spin cycle, if so then I suspect a blockage in the filter or pump hose, If not and machine is quiet then it could be a faulty water pump or PCB board and you would have to call a technician.

Why do my clothes have horrible smell

Front loader? Welcome to our hell.

Seriously though - it's not that bad. You need to have a different mindset with these machines. First, throw away your old detergent. You've GOT to use the type with the HE logo on it. Really. There is a difference.

Wipe out any standing water in the gasket between the drum and door opening after the last load of the day.

Leave the door open slightly to allow air to flow around between washes.

Open the other doors for detergent, bleach, etc. between laundry days.

Don't use liquid fabric softener. Use dryer sheets instead.

Run a small, empty load with hot water and bleach ONLY. No clothes, as your last load for the days that you do laundry.

Use a product like Affresh, once or twice to rid the washer of existing smells. You can use Affresh any time the smells start coming back - and follow the suggestions above.

I hope this helps you as much as it helped me when I learned it! Good luck!

New detergent Sheets are NOT a good idea for front load washers

In the last week i have went to many customers home to remove detergent sheets from washing machine pumps on front load washers.

Purex® Complete 3-in-1™ Laundry Sheets are now on my "DONT USE THIS PRODUCT LIST." As an appliance repairman, i have made lots of money removing these sheets from the drain pumps on front load washing machines. I was at one of those jobs today and the customer watched me pull 14 of these sheets out of the pump and up into the hose that leads to the pump. I tested the machine and it then worked fine.

About 1 hour later, the customer called me and was furious because as she was doing a load a laundry and the water would no drain out again. I went right back to her home and once again i found more of those sheets inside her pump, 5 to be precise. About an hour later, i was done doing a complete clean out of her washer to make sure this didnt happen again.

She will no longer use Purex® Complete 3-in-1™ Laundry Sheets per my recommendation.

The sheets were designed to keep you from wasting money on using too much soap with the added ease of it also being a fabric softner sheet. Dont be lazy and dont use these sheets in a front loader of any brand.

The problem is that small articles of clothing like baby socks, and these sheets, make it thru the front seal and make its way between the tubs and on to the pump. This does not seem to be a problem with top loading washers yet, but we will find out in the near future.

Random brown stains in random loads of laundry

Hi from Australia

Ok the problem with your washing machine is that there is grease and oil stuck in the machine and the oil will dribble out when you run the machine on a different cycle if you rince with cold water then the oil stays in there and the hot water lets a little bit out as it is stuck in the pipes of your machine ok the first thing is run an empty load on full hot water even the rince cycle with 1 cup of bleach nothing else let that go through the long cycle then do the same again with 1 cup of white vinger and 1/2 cup citric acid which you should be able to get over there or baking soda try that it will clean your machine and your pipes it is great way to keep it all clean by the time you have done this you should not have any brown stains

Stops halfway through wash cycle

be sure that BOTH water hoses are on and providing water. Your description sounds like typical situation: Dad gets water bill and freeks out, turns off hot water to laundry...SOOOO, when the laundry needs THAT hose, it just stops and waits ...if no water, no go..

WATER IS COLLECTING AND STAYING IN THE GASGET AND HAS AN ODOR, HELP, Please

Betty, this is problematic of all front loading washers. I have some helpful suggestions, which have helped us with our own front loading washer.

First, whenever you're done doing a load of laundry, don't close the door all the way shut. Leave it open a couple of inches for a day to let it air dry out, which will prevent the nasty smelling odor you're getting.

I also take a small rag/washcloth to wipe out the door seal/gasket after we're done washing, that way, there's less water to contribute to foul odors, etc.

The other thing we discovered is to make our last load of wash the hot water wash, whenever we're doing whites, or the stain cycle. This helps get rid of any gunk that might hang around between wash days.

Now we don't always have a hot water wash everytime we do laundry, but by just wiping out the gasket and leaving the door open, we eliminated the odor issues completely.

Frankly, the gasket shouldn't have to be wiped out when you're done washing, but that's a design issue that we've overcome with a simple washcloth. So just do these simple steps and you'll save yourself some frustration.

We really like how clean our laundry gets with the front load washer and how little water is needed to do a load, so we've decided it's worth taking the time to wipe the gasket once we're done for the day, and to leave the door open to prevent any nasty odors.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!
