When I turn my camera on the power light flashes and i have a red symbol appear on the lcd screen. I have also noticed the screen has F14 on the right hand side im not sure if this has anything to do with it but i have never noticed it before. after a few seconds the camera turns itself off.
The red symbol is the erasure prevention slider on the tape. check it's not on or push the slider on and off prevention. this should fix the red symbol, you might have to do it a couple of times before it works. not sure what F14 is can't find it in the manual. try the solution here. if it still turns off after a few seconds i have another way to fix the power.

If the flash is not functioning, then the Camera flash may be turned off or ot is set to Auto and will only flash when the taking pictures in poorly lit environments. To turn on the flash so it works regardless of the lighting conditions, press the flash button on the Camera until the Forced Flash icon appears on the LCD screen. The flash button on the Camera has a lightning bolt symbol on it. If the Forced Flash setting is already enabled and the flash is still not working, then the issue may be due to another camera setting. Even if the Forced flash setting it enabled, the flash will still not work in the following settings. When shooting movies. When shooting in the Twilight or Handheld Twilight mode. When shooting with the Burst or Multi Burst mode. Shooting with the Fireworks or high sensitivity mode. (ISO) Following the above steps should resolve the issue. You should be able to turn off your flash, or change the flash to a different flash setting by using one of the buttons on somewhere on your camera. The proper button is identified by the flash symbol, that looks the same as the one on your LCD screen, a jagged, down ward facing arrow, that looks something like a bolt of lightning. Simply press this, it will ether change the setting on your LCD, or bring up the settings that you can change manually by selecting whatever setting you want for the flash. If you don't want to change any of the settings, but want to clear the symbol off of your LCD screen simply hit the Display button that will hide those icons from your view and can be seen again simply by hitting display once more. I hope this is of some help to you, if not, consult your user guide or manual that came with the camera, it should explain exactly what to do. I hope that you have success, God bless...
1. Turn OFF cam 2. Remove the battery or the power supply 3. Turn the switch to CAMERA for about 30 sec 4. Turn the switch to OFF 5. Install the battery or power supply 6. Turn the switch to MEMORY 7. Open the LCD cover and press the RESET button ( small inner button ) 8. You will be prompt to adjust date/time. Do it 9. Take some pictures
The batteries probably need to be replaced. Be sure that any batteries seat properly and tightly. You may have to tape the battery door shut with strong tape to keep the contact tight. This type of damage is expensive to repair compared to the cost of the cameras. You can take it in and have it looked at, but be sure to get an estimate and then you can make an educated decision on whether to repair or replace it.
